In 2012, the adoption of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Law was recognized as the milestone of OHS in our country and brought qualified professional definitions such as occupational health and safety technicians, occupational safety experts or workplace physicians to our country. Recently, the content of qualified employment has been enriched and individuals' vocational education diplomas alone are no longer sufficient. Therefore, improving the professional knowledge and skills of individuals or newly graduated students, bringing them together with experienced OHS professionals in the sector and enabling them to benefit from their experience makes individuals advantageous in their professional lives.
The main goal of Üsküdar University Occupational Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Health Application and Research Center is to enable individuals to learn, experience and bring knowledge about occupational health and safety practices into their lives, or to organize seminars in cooperation with the best experts in the field, open various courses and certificate programs, and organize various activities with research and study groups. Every work carried out in this context is open to every individual who applies with the aim of learning.
ÜSGÜMER realizes the trainings that individuals and companies need in order to be employed or qualified in changing competitive conditions, and provides services to all individuals and institutions that want to develop competencies for their career plans. It organizes online professional sharing seminars with the title of '1 Topic 1 Guest' with an expert in the field on a regular basis every month. Thus, it contributes to the sector by ensuring that our students, graduates and anyone interested in the field of OHS can benefit free of charge and open to participation. In addition, the symposium title 'Problems and Solution Suggestions in the Field of Occupational Health and Safety' is organized every year with the support of TÜBİTAK scientific symposium by organizing the theme according to the current sector needs.
At the same time, ÜSGÜMER cooperates with the Occupational Diseases - Work Accidents Research and Prevention (MESKA) Foundation, of which I am the President, in European Union projects and social responsibility activities.
