University Score Calculation

How will the exam scores be calculated?

YKS (TYT, AYT, YDT) sessions will be held by ÖSYM on June 17-18, 2023 this year. The answers given to the tests in the exam will be evaluated separately for each test. One standard score will be calculated for each of these tests. After subtracting one fourth of the number of wrong answers from the number of correct answers, the raw score of the candidate from the relevant test will be found.

There are 2 important issues for this year's exam. These are:

1) In 2022-YKS, scores of 200 and above obtained in 2021-TYT will be converted and used. Those who scored 200 and above from TYT in 2022-YKS will not be able to use these scores in 2023-YKS.

2) Those who want to be placed in a program with SAY, SÖZ, EA or LANGUAGE scores in 2022-YKS (even if their 2021-TYT score is 200 and above) must apply and attend the 2022-AYT and/or 2022-YDT sessions.

How will YKS Scores be Calculated?

In order to calculate the TYT score, candidates must have a raw score of at least 0.5 or more in the Basic Mathematics Test or Turkish Test. Only candidates who meet these conditions will have their TYT score calculated. The TYT score will be calculated by converting the lowest score to 100 and the highest score to 500.

In order for AYT and YDT (SAY, SÖZ, EA, LANGUAGE) scores to be calculated, candidates must have a raw score of 0.5 or more from at least one of the relevant tests. Candidates who do not have a TYT score or whose TYT score is not calculated will not have SAY, SÖZ, EA, LANGUAGE scores calculated even if they have taken AYT and/or YDT.

Will there be a Threshold in 2023 Yks?

As it was the case last year, the requirement of having scored 150 points in TYT score type and the test score threshold of 180 for AYT and YDT score types will not be used this year. In line with this decision announced by YÖK , the application will continue this year as no new announcement has been made.

What is OBP and How will it be calculated?

Secondary Education Achievement Score (OBP) is a score that is formed by applying some processes to the diploma grade received in the 4th year at the end of the high school period and also affects the YKS result. The university placement score of the candidate who takes the exam is formed by adding OBP to the score obtained from the scores obtained from the TYT and AYT. The student's high school graduation grade is converted into a secondary education achievement score, the lowest of which is 250 and the highest of which is 500. The diploma grade out of 100 in secondary education is multiplied by 5 and converted into the Secondary Education Success Score (OBP). Twelve percent of the calculated OBP affects the YKS placement score. For this reason, we multiply the diploma grade multiplied by 5 by a coefficient of 0.12, and the OBP that will affect the YKS placement score is found.

What is Placement Score with Additional Points?

The rightto placement with additional points is only granted to vocational high school graduates. When calculating this additional point result, it means the score that the student will have if he / she makes preferences related to the high school and department he / she studied. Additional points can be used if the candidate chooses a university department parallel to the department they studied in high school.

What is TYT?

TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) is the name of the 1st session of the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination), which high school (12th grade) students and everyone who finishes high school must take in order to be eligible to attend university. Since October 12, 2017, the previous version of this exam, which has been revised with the name TYT, was YGS. TYT has been implemented by ÖSYM since 2018. The duration of the exam is 165 minutes. This year it will take place on Saturday, June 17th. It consists of Turkish, Social Sciences, Mathematics and Science subtests. Candidates are responsible for a total of 120 questions.

What is AYT?

AYT (Field Proficiency Tests) exam is the 2nd step of the YKS sessions that candidates who want to study 4-year university departments are required to take. The duration of the exam is 180 minutes. This year it will take place on Sunday, June 18th. There are 160 questions in AYT, including 40 Turkish, 40 Mathematics, 40 Social Sciences and 40 Science. AYT is a 180-minute exam. Those who want to be placed in an undergraduate program with SAY, SÖZ or EA scores in 2023-YKS are required to attend the 2023-AYT session. In AYT, candidates will be given a booklet consisting of Turkish Language and Literature-Social Sciences-1, Social Sciences-2, Mathematics and Science tests. Candidates will answer the questions of whichever of these sub-tests they want to choose. If a candidate wants to calculate all of the SAY, SÖZ and EA score types, he/she will be able to answer all tests during the exam. 40% of the TYT score and 60% of the AYT score will affect the exam score.
