The Simulation (Phantom) Laboratory is a modern preclinical training center equipped with real-time technological imaging infrastructure, designed to help dental students develop their theoretical knowledge and practical skills to the highest level before progressing to the clinical stage.

What is the Simulation (Phantom) Laboratory? / What is its Purpose?

Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of the Simulation (Phantom) Laboratory is to provide students with contemporary preclinical training in accordance with international standards, develop their hand-eye coordination before entering the clinical stage, and enable them to perfect the treatments they will perform on real patients in a safe, simulated environment.

Key Features: In our laboratory, each student works on a phantom unit with ergonomics and mechanical features identical to those of a real clinical dental unit. The technological camera and audio systems located at the instructor's desk transmit instructors' precise practical demonstrations and teaching sessions to the entire laboratory in real time. Students can watch these demonstrations simultaneously on personal LCD monitors integrated into their own units or follow instructional videos through recorded playback.

Academic Contribution: This laboratory serves as the primary practical training facility for the practice-oriented preclinical courses within the dentistry curriculum. By working on phantom manikins within defined scenarios and structured training frameworks, students acquire the theoretical knowledge and motor skills necessary to provide direct patient care when they progress to the clinical stage.

  • Personal LCD Monitors: Digital screens installed at each student's phantom unit, enabling students to watch live demonstrations synchronized with the instructor's desk or access recorded instructional videos.
  • Clinical and Preclinical Handpieces and Infrastructure: Technical auxiliary equipment connected to simulated air and water lines and used in tooth preparation, restorative procedures, root canal treatment, and prosthetic applications.
