ISTANBUL PROTEIN RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION CENTER (PROMER)
OBJECTIVES:
The aim of the center is to ensure the production of microbial-sourced domestic enzymes, especially for use in industry. According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, the budget allocated for enzyme imports increases every year. At this point, in order to contribute to the national economy, the enzymes used in the industry should be produced by a center to be established in our country and the enzyme production infrastructure should be established. With the established center, it is planned to prevent many problems encountered in this field in Turkey. If a center that produces enzymes from microbial sources is established in Istanbul, this budget allocated for enzyme imports will remain in our country. In this context, the Istanbul Protein Research Development and Innovation Center (PROMER), which was established with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency and approved by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), is expected to be a pioneer in the Istanbul Region and in our country. In this context;
- Building institutional capacity to increase R&D and innovation activities in enterprises,
- In the main food sector, where we are almost completely foreign-dependent in terms of enzymes, domestic enzyme production, researching new sources for production, creating an infrastructure where enzymes and proteins used as additives will be analyzed, new technologies will be produced and qualified personnel will be trained in the field,
- Establishing common use area and/or interface structures to support knowledge and technology transfer,
- Creating a common platform where students, academics, sector employees and entrepreneurs can meet with the incubation center,
- Ensuring the development and implementation of innovative practices in urban services to improve the quality of life in our country,
-Thanks to the incubation center, student groups and academics with projects will come together to mature their projects and reach investors and provide the opportunity to transfer them to industry by conducting R&D studies in the laboratories provided by the center,
- To create awareness in the sector with scientific activities and to ensure that the students meet with the industry.
AREAS OF ACTIVITY:
- Organizing orientation and training seminars for Center staff,
- Realization of training programs in PROMER laboratory,
- Identification of sector problems through industry meetings and formulation of strategies for solutions,
- Establishing a platform that will contribute to the sector through meetings with academics and where relevant students can meet,
- Bringing academics and the sector together with the meetings to be held,
- Training qualified personnel for the sector through trainings and workshops to be organized,
- Bringing industry and academics together by following the innovations in industrial enzymes and protein molecules,
- Publication of research results to be carried out in the central laboratory in the form of articles, utility model applications and patenting processes.
