Üsküdar Study and Article Analysis Working Groups Meet Online…

The group, which did not see pandemic conditions as an obstacle to productivity, held an online meeting to increase their sharing, engage in new studies, and transfer their experiences to each other. The working group plans to conduct book and film analyses, case presentations, and many other activities.

The Üsküdar Study Group began its activities with an analysis of Bruce D. Perry & Maia Szalavitz's book 'The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog'.

'The most therapeutic experiences are not found in therapy, but in naturally developing healthy relationships.'

In the book analysis, it was emphasized that the most effective treatment for children who are victims of trauma is anything that can be done to improve the quality and number of relationships in the child's life. It was also stated how effective it could be to bring together entirely different groups (even if they had conflicting goals). It was highlighted that relationships are important, that trust is needed in relationships for systemic changes to occur, and that trust is built through healthy relationships.

The Article Analysis Working Group Also Held Its First Meeting…

Meanwhile, the Article Analysis Working Group, formed by students of the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Social Sciences Institute Clinical Psychology Master's program, also met for the first time under the moderation of Prof. Dr. Selim Kılıç.

The aim of the article analyses is to update professional knowledge, follow current developments, master the literature, and gain the ability to interpret statistical data.

Büşra Özdoğan presented an article titled 'Antecedents of intact cognition and dementia at age 90 years: a prospective study'. In her presentation, Özdoğan emphasized that according to research findings, positive relationships formed with the mother in early childhood, regular exercise, and developing sincere, deep interpersonal relationships are protective for brain functions.

Social support increases the level of psychosocial adjustment…

Ege Ebrar Önür presented an article titled 'An Experimental Study on the Role of Social Support in Reducing the Traumatic Effects of Migration'. In her presentation, Önür emphasized that according to research findings, the social support a human being, as a social entity, receives plays a very significant role in achieving psychosocial adjustment.

At least 70% of OCD patients have at least one type of childhood trauma… 

Hasret Karakuş presented an article titled 'Comparison of Dissociation and Childhood Traumas in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Patients with Healthy Volunteers'. Karakuş stated that according to research findings, at least 70% of OCD patients have at least one type of childhood trauma.

The Article Analysis Working Group will also meet online every Wednesday.
