Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, noting that brain signals are meaningful signals and are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, referred to a study published last week on the BBC, stating that the brain waves of two people who get along well begin to work in the same rhythm after a while. Tarhan noted that the human brain does what it thinks and turns it into action if it believes. 'Like the enter key on a computer, belief in the brain does that job. When the brain believes in a subject, when it believes what someone tells it, when it believes their story, when it believes something wrong, it writes it to the correct information file and makes decisions accordingly. The brain is also an organ of belief,' he said.

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, evaluated creation and intelligent design.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that the topic of creation and intelligent design is highly debated in the scientific world, especially with developments in neuroscience. 'Developments related to neuroscience have particularly brought this to light. In 2014, Arizona Üniversitesi and Columbia Üniversitesi published the Post-Materialist Science Manifesto. This manifesto states, 'As the secrets of the human brain are solved, many sciences will be rewritten,'' he said.
Developments in Neuroscience Merged with Artificial Intelligence
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that developments in neuroscience have particularly merged with artificial intelligence, saying, 'This is even called computational neuroscience psychiatry. In other words, what we call the human mood, emotions like fear, have become calculable. Because brain signals can be monitored.'
Our Brain Signals Are Used in the Diagnosis of Diseases
Referring to a study published last week on the BBC, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, 'It has been demonstrated that the brain waves of two people who get along well start to work in the same rhythm after a while. Our brain signals are meaningful signals. Our brain signals are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.'
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that Prof. Dr. Moran Cerf, a neurologist working on the synchronization of the brain's electrical signals, and his team determined that the brain waves of people who spend time together also begin to appear 'similar' over time. Tarhan said, 'Prof. Cerf, who emphasized to BBC reporters that these waves can even appear exactly the same in two human brains in some cases, said, 'A harmony forms in both brains of people who spend time together. Even after just two weeks, two people watching the same movie, reading the same books, sharing the same experience, and simply talking to each other develop common patterns in terms of language, emotion, and perspective.' According to Prof. Cerf, this 'brain twinning' that develops over time can occur in emotional relationships as well as social ones. Prof. Cerf explained the result of his studies as follows: 'The best decision one can make in life is to wisely choose who you spend your time with.''
The Human Brain Acts and Transforms into Action if It Believes
Prof. Dr. Tarhan noted that until the 1990s, science only said 'I think, therefore I am,' meaning it accepted reason as a guide. 'But after the 90s, a book called 'Descartes' Error' was written, and then emotions also entered the scope of science. As a result of brain research, areas responsible for emotions in the brain were identified. In the early 21st century, it was determined that the human brain is not actually an organ that thinks, feels, and makes decisions, but rather an organ that believes. Because the human brain acts and transforms into action if it believes. Like the enter key on a computer, belief in the brain does that job. When the brain believes in a subject, when it believes what someone tells it, when it believes their story, when it believes something wrong, it writes it to the correct information file and makes decisions accordingly. The brain is also an organ of belief,' he said.
Now the Universe is Digitally Based
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that when considered within the framework of the brain and belief, quantum physics comes into play, and stated the following:
'Consciousness exists, quantum consciousness exists. Quantum consciousness, along with consciousness studies on the brain, led us to quantum dynamics. In quantum dynamics, humans are only subjective experiencers; humans are only observers. We exist when we observe, we don't exist when we don't observe. According to current quantum dynamics, there is actually no such thing as matter. According to string theory, there are only energy transitions in the universe. As such, everything in the universe is interconnected. The biggest truth currently identified is the truth of connectivity. All of this shows that everything in the universe operates through connectivity. Everything in the universe is interconnected. We are in a quantum universe. The universe was previously considered matter-based, then energy-based, but now the universe is digitally based,' he said.
The Universe is a Design
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, stating 'Since the universe is digitally based, the universe is a design,' said, 'If there is a design, for example, you found a watch on the road. Finding this watch means that the watch has a maker. You would say there is an artisan, an intelligence behind it. In the same way you think this when you find a watch, isn't there an art when you see an insect, when you see a mosquito? A mosquito emerges from an egg and becomes a mosquito within a few months. Consider humans: from a blood clot, a living human being forms in 9 months and 10 days.'
There is a Series of Rules in Human Existence and Creation
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, noting that a mathematical modeling of this has been done, stated that there is a series of rules in creation and existence:
'Cells are constantly dividing. In each division, the right decision must be made. In this mathematical modeling, probability calculations have been made regarding a sperm and egg fusion becoming a human being after 9 months and 10 days, by making the right decision in each division. This is called an in silico experiment, a thought experiment. It is an experiment related to probability calculations performed in a computer environment. Here, probability calculations are made; according to the mathematics of probability, there is a telomere at the end of a DNA strand, which dictates the lifespan of the DNA, and there are programmed cell deaths. The number of times a cell will multiply, the probability of these telomere amino acids coming together, the probability of them coming together by random winds and chance paths is calculated. It amounts to 10 to the power of 652, meaning 10-15 amino acids coming together randomly... According to these mathematical probability calculations, probabilities above 10 to the power of 50 are impossible. This 10 to the power of 652, just for the amino acid chain of the telomere, implies that it is impossible for a cell to become a human being without external supervision, according to probability calculations. This means there is a series of laws. Just as there is a series of laws for rain, you know when the sun will rise, there is a series of laws. In human existence and creation, too, there is a series of rules. What does this series of rules show? How such a perfect artist, master... Both complex and perfect.'
A Perfectly Functioning System is Possible with Intelligent Design
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that research has been conducted in mathematical models on how such a system works, stating that it has reached the point where this can only be possible with intelligent design. Speaking about the operating system of intelligent design, Tarhan said, 'In the universe and in its existence, there is first a digital database. Before this digital database, information is needed. Just as a watchmaker needs information to make a watch, first the drawings of the creator, not the repairer, are needed, as are the technical details and precise calculations. In such a case, we can digitize information. All information is converted into digital format and can be transferred. In such a situation, there is digital information, but that is not enough; a design must be made. Calculations must be made along with the design. Design and calculations are done with digital data, and then energy and the science of physics emerge. Physics is the branch of science that enables life, movement, and the dynamism of the universe. After that, there is chemistry, the science of matter. Organic substances, inorganic substances. Inorganic substances are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen. Organic substances are what make living things: protein, carbohydrates, etc. Here, chemistry deals with inorganic and organic substances. In the fourth stage, biology, the science of life, comes into play. Within the hierarchy of all these sciences, there is a design from the very beginning.'
Random Evolution Has Run Its Course
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, noting that where there is intelligent design, there must be an intelligent designer, said, 'In Louisiana, USA, by court order, intelligent design classes were introduced as an alternative to evolution classes. In fact, I believe that evolution itself is currently evolving. I believe that random evolution has now run its course, that the scientific basis of random existence has been lost, and its lifespan has ended.'
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that when probability calculations are made in a laboratory setting, it emerges that there must be an external intelligence. 'That's why there are 4,300 religions in the world. All these religions claim 'we are the most correct.' Scientific methodology will show us which one is correct,' he said.
There Must Be a Power Outside the Universe
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that when the Big Bang, considered the first beginning of the universe, occurred 13.5 billion years ago, time and space began. 'Therefore, the best thesis explaining existence is that there is a being transcendent of time and space. But there must be a power that knows everything, controls everything, has power over everything, has will, has wisdom, and has absolute knowledge, will, and power to do everything correctly in the right place. In other words, there must be a power from outside the universe. We only state this as a necessary being, as evidence, but it is necessary to correctly conceive of it, to correctly conceive of God,' he said.
Wisdom is Greater Than Knowledge
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that when looking at the perfect order in the universe, everything is seen to progress very quickly, practically, and perfectly. 'When you consider all these, there is great knowledge behind them, great will, great power, great wisdom. Wisdom is greater than knowledge. The only being with that search for meaning is man. Man asks, 'Why do I exist?' He asks, 'Why is there death?' Man is the only being that tries to explain death, the only being that questions death. This is within existence. It is necessary to confront death and explain death. Because if we don't have a correct philosophy of life regarding death and what comes after it, this world is very meaningless. Therefore, the best creation thesis related to existence, if it is monotheistic creation, when quantum science, physical science, and neuroscience combine, we can say that the Creator is a necessary being here and that this is the most reasonable option in such a case. Scientific evidence suggests that people who use their reasoning should revise their beliefs accordingly,' he said.
