Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, emphasizing the importance of family, said, “It is possible to raise individuals who are at peace with their sexual identity and gender. However, timing plays a critical role in this process. After 12-13 years of age, correcting such situations becomes much more difficult.”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, drawing attention to the importance of a child's upbringing, stated, “If a male child grows up with feminine role models, and the father also exhibits a weak personality in this process, and there are no strong male figures like uncles, a serious impact is left on the child's gender identity.”

Üsküdar University Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, evaluated the issue of degendering on TRT Radio 1's Ailece program.
Is it a project to reduce the world population?
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, drawing attention to the fact that they have been receiving various information about the issue of degendering for a long time, said, “However, most recently, an explicit display for degendering was made at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games held in France this June. This display clearly revealed that degendering is not an event that develops naturally; on the contrary, it is a designed, planned, and projected effort. Our observations are in this direction as well. We particularly believe that the degendering movement is being carried out as a project by global capital and powers to reduce the world population.”
“Global capital acts like a superior mechanism claiming to govern the world”
Tarhan, explaining that he first started noticing this issue around 2016, when a project on addiction came up, and that degendering studies were also part of the project, and its funding source was the United Nations Population Fund, stated, “Apparently, while planning addiction-fighting projects, the United Nations also prioritizes objectives such as gender roles, marriage, and population reduction. The world population is rapidly increasing, and if this continues, global powers are thought to struggle in governing the world. Global capital acts like a superior mechanism claiming to govern the world and uses such projects as a tool. They also consider the cultural capital they possess as part of these projects.”
Equality between women and men; should be evaluated in terms of rights and opportunities
Tarhan noted that the concept of “Social Gender” should be about inequalities in rights and opportunities between women and men, and stated, “An approach that women and men are biologically equal is adopted. However, equality between women and men should be evaluated in terms of rights and opportunities.”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that there is an inequality between female and male genders stemming from patriarchal culture, and said, “In response to this situation, the feminist movement rightly began in the 1960s with the aim of women's liberation. However, over time, this movement evolved into radical feminism. Radical feminism, in turn, transformed into an arena of struggle and conflict between women and men. Today, the effects of this radical understanding can be seen especially in the USA.”
Science says there is no third gender from birth!
Prof. Dr. Tarhan, stating that biological gender is innate and related to chromosomes, said, “There is an innate female and male gender. A major study published in Nature journal in 2019 demonstrates that there is no third gender from birth. This study, conducted with contributions from leading institutions such as Oxford, MIT, and Harvard, involved 477,000 people and was one of the largest genetic studies to date. The study clearly showed that no gene defining a third gender was found. These scientific pieces of evidence indicate that biologically there is no third gender and that only female and male genders exist. In this case, it is understood that social gender is learned later, meaning it is an epigenetic rather than a genetic phenomenon. Through upbringing and environmental factors within society, changes in the form of genetic polymorphism can occur in individuals. However, this is a changeable situation; individuals can change it if they wish.”
“It is necessary to stop the abuse of the female and male body”
Prof. Dr. Tarhan, stating that with the emergence of scientific evidence, the claims of those who argue “a third gender exists” have weakened, and this situation has become a preference or culture, said, “If a third gender or degendering is adopted as a culture in society, the existence of other genders will be accepted in addition to female and male genders. Today, not only homosexual individuals (gay and lesbian) or trans individuals are mentioned, but also a category defined by the letter 'Q' has emerged. In some places, even concepts like pedophilia or sexual relations with animals have been tried to be evaluated within the scope of sexual freedom, which is a clear abuse of the human body. It is necessary to stop the abuse of the female and male body. For this reason, we established an association and conducted studies. This situation destroys the family and harms the family.”
Gender change centers are being closed…
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, also referring to his newly published book “Raising Children at Peace with Their Gender,” said, “The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Pediatricians have emphasized that giving hormones to young children is contrary to biological nature. Published news and videos on this topic are available. Scientific evidence is quite clear today. In England, significant steps are also being taken regarding this issue, and gender reassignment centers are being closed. This situation is regarded as an intervention contrary to human biological nature. Even when choosing tomatoes, we say ‘let it be natural’; however, a lifestyle incompatible with human biological nature and genetic structure is being taught to children and individuals. We discussed these issues in the book as well.”
“Degendering is now a concept of psychological warfare”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, stating that there is no such thing as “one hundred percent female” or “one hundred percent male,” and that every man can have 10-20 percent femininity, and every woman can have 10-20, even 30-50 percent masculinity, said, “A global degendering effort is underway. While families and individuals cannot speak up with the thought ‘medicine says so,’ it has been proven with scientific evidence that medicine does not say such a thing on this matter. With the clarification of the evidence, the voices of those advocating for this issue are no longer as loud as before. The concept of degendering has entered international literature and is now a concept of psychological warfare.”
The impact of K-pop culture…
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, touching upon the effects of the K-pop music trend on the new generation, continued as follows:
“K-pop culture appears quite appealing and attractive. However, we know that there is no gender distinction there, no female and male sexuality, and a more unisex approach is adopted. This actually stands out as a major project affecting young children. Thanks to K-pop, South Korea's annual income in the USA is stated to have reached 7-8 billion dollars. This culture particularly appeals to children who are not happy in their families. While children who can establish happy and healthy communication within the family do not turn to such trends, children who cannot get along with their parents or have problems fall for this false allure. In addition, there is a serious wave of propaganda regarding gender change, and this situation is spreading like an epidemic.”
Children's behaviors can stem from family dynamics
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, also emphasizing the importance of family, noted the following:
“In families that raise their children correctly, create a safe space at home, provide a peaceful environment, and where women naturally display their feminine roles and men their masculine roles, sexual identity problems are generally not experienced. However, in some cases, we observe that children's behaviors stem from family dynamics. When a child is angry with their father, they can use this as a protest tool and show a change in sexual identity; thus, unconsciously taking revenge on their father. Similarly, if the mother assumes a masculine role, the child can exhibit similar behaviors as a reaction to their mother. Children usually do this unconsciously, at a subconscious level. To prevent such situations, it is very important for the family to create a safe space and provide a healthy environment. It is possible to raise individuals who are at peace with their sexual identity and gender. However, timing plays a critical role in this process. After 12-13 years of age, correcting such situations becomes much more difficult. If this awareness is provided before the age of 10, the solution can be easier. When working with children who have reached 17-18 years of age, we first try to understand the underlying reasons for these behaviors. After identifying the reasons why the child tends in this direction, we focus on eliminating these reasons.”
Raising a child in a way that is inconsistent with gender roles…
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that misguiding a child at a young age and raising them in a way that is inconsistent with gender roles is a significant problem, and said, “There is a video circulating on social media; a girl child is wearing boxing gloves, boxing with her father, and knocking him down. Most of us have watched this video, and it seems quite entertaining, even cute. In the video, the mother comes and rescues the father, and everyone laughs and has fun. However, there is a situation that needs to be noticed here: In such examples, the girl child is raised in a masculine way. Although these moments may seem cheerful and fun, they can have long-term effects on the child. Girls raised in this manner, when they reach 12-13-14 years of age, may react when told, ‘You are a girl, don't act like that, behave this way.’ The child can say, ‘I want to act like a boy,’ and this situation can challenge the family.”
The child's upbringing is very important!
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, emphasizing that the child's upbringing is extremely important, concluded his words by saying, “If everyone in the family is female; in an environment where female figures like elder sisters and aunts are in the majority, the only male child is dressed in girl's clothes, and this becomes a means of entertainment. While everyone laughs, this situation can leave negative effects on the child's development. If a male child grows up with feminine role models, and the father also exhibits a weak personality in this process, and there are no strong male figures like uncles, a serious impact is left on the child's gender identity. If the male child is not given enough attention during this period and this situation continues for a long time, the child can develop a feminine identity. When the child enters adolescence, they can say, ‘I won't change, this is who I am.’ Because genetic polymorphism and epigenetic shaping have already occurred. In this situation, an intensive treatment process is required to make a change, and this change is only possible if the person themselves desires it. However, at this stage, it is usually too late.”
