Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar Üniversitesi, participated in the online "Technology, Ethics, and Religion" Workshop, organized by Mardin Artuklu University Faculty of Islamic Sciences with national and international participation. Tarhan made striking evaluations regarding the topics "Is the Universe a Simulation?" and "Are We in a Post-Truth Era?" Tarhan, stating that there is a human-specific fundamental operating system within the mind, said; “There is a universal database in the world according to this. What happens with universal data? It connects to a database called Big Data, and the world is moving towards digital dictatorships. The existence of a universal database in such a world is a reality revealed by quantum science. In such a situation, there is actually no such thing as matter. Matter is not the cause, but the result. We have seen this.”
"Metaverse created a simulation"
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar Üniversitesi, mentioned that quantum events prompted the question, 'Is the Universe a simulation?' Tarhan said; “Metaverse created a simulation. In this simulation, people will be able to trade, buy and sell goods, and spend their entire day there – this is the direction things are heading. This is an un-mathematized state. We call the un-mathematized state of science philosophy. For example, it was born from neurobiological foundations, meaning theoretical models, or the philosophy of existence, or the sciences of 'aqidah (creed) and kalam (theology) need to be reinterpreted in this era. According to this information, wahdat al-wujud (unity of existence) or wahdat ash-shuhud (unity of witness) became more understandable. Tawhid (monotheism) is closest to reason as a mathematical reality. Mathematically, the creator of this universe can only be a conception of God with the attribute of Tawhid. This is emerging. That is, there are 4,300 religions, and each religion has a different conception of God. Among these, there is a need for God because humans have a need to believe in an afterlife and a higher power. Mathematically, Tawhid is the most reasonable way to meet this need.”
"We have reached the limits of physics"
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan made evaluations regarding quantum entanglement theory being an interesting theory. Tarhan said; “Quantum entanglement theory was a theory put forward by Schrödinger in 1935, known for his famous cat. Quantum entanglement theory revealed frightening truths. When Einstein heard this theory, he said, ‘Spooky.’ According to this theory, physics is ending. This theory received the 2022 Nobel Prize this year. In the Nobel Prize, three physicists stated that quantum entanglement exists. Currently, according to quantum entanglement, this means we have reached the limits of physics. Not that it's over, but we've reached its boundary. What is quantum tunneling? Here, after quantum entanglement, quantum tunneling occurs. In the field, this tunneling of quantum physics usually means in classical physics you bring this stone from here to here, but in quantum physics, tunneling occurs. That is, you can perceive what is behind the wall and penetrate matter. There's evidence for this, they proved it.”
"No information is lost in the universe"
Tarhan mentioned that proton telepathy has been confirmed as proof that the speed of light has been surpassed, and that time works backward, and no information is lost in the universe. Tarhan said; “Quantum mechanics allows two or more particles to exist in a shared state regardless of how far apart they are. This means protons can establish a telepathic relationship. Proton telepathy has entered the literature. In other words, two protons a million light-years apart can communicate with each other independently of time and space. This is called quantum entanglement. Proton telepathy allows for information and sharing at an instant, infinite boundary. This view, which brings new dimensions to matter and science, is very strange and surprising. The proof of quantum entanglement will open up new fields in quantum computer encryption and communication networks. Proton telepathy has been confirmed as proof that the speed of light has been surpassed. It was understood that in the universe, where time works backward, no information is lost. In fact, time works backward. No information is lost in the universe. Our current conversations, for instance, remain within a universal flow, and we live in a different energy band. When we die in our current energy band, we will move to another energy band, and all our information will be in that new energy band. In this case, information will also not be lost.”
"Originally, everything is interconnected"
Tarhan emphasized that what is called death is actually a transition from one life form to another; “Humans have currently come from another life form, a spiritual life form. Here, they have entered a material life form, and after this, with the accumulations they gain, they will transition to another life form. This shows that matter is not eternal or everlasting, but such a divine design, a database, is eternal and everlasting. This database is also called the 'Lawh al-Mahfuz' (Preserved Tablet) in the Holy Quran. The knowledge with Allah is the Lawh al-Mahfuz. Time works backward. Now, matter and objects are constantly in an entangled state here. For example, protons launched simultaneously are in constant interaction with each other. Some of it may not seem like a very important detail sometimes, but it supported the views that everything that existed originally is in interaction with each other. That is, the past currently works on the reality of disconnectedness. Originally, everything is interconnected. We now better understand that an apple in Japan and an apple here operate under the same laws. When the brain is exposed to a stimulus, neurons fire seemingly randomly. While this firing continues to increase in frequency to hyperactivity as it is recorded, it then drops to the firing rate of the post-hyper network. During this time, chemical weapons, synaptic communication, i.e., neurotransmitters, turn into chemicals, from which an electrical current is generated. After that, our movement emerges.”
"No living creature other than humans can produce abstract concepts"
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan pointed out that the production of abstract concepts occurs in the brain thanks to mirror neurons. Tarhan said; “If our brain's frontal lobe didn't exist, there would be no morality or civilization. In animals, let's say dogs, their frontal lobe is only concerned with smell. As genetically encoded, animals cannot produce abstract concepts. No living creature other than humans can produce abstract concepts. Even among humans, autistic individuals cannot produce abstract concepts. This is called the theory of mind. Their minds cannot produce theories; they cannot think abstractly. In semi-autistic individuals, there is no mother, only a caregiver. What does this mean? Producing abstract concepts happens with mirror neurons in the brain. When mirror neurons don't function in humans, neurons that work like wireless internet, you see, the frontal lobe does this here. In the brain, the frontal lobe has emotional mirror neurons. In the posterior regions, there are motor mirror neurons.”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan made evaluations regarding the relationship between the physical brain and the mind; “If we ask the question of the mind more specifically as, 'What is the relationship between the physical brain and the mind?', it is an ontological problem concerning the nature of the mind. Secondly, it tries to understand the cause-and-effect relationship between the brain, mind, and soul, which are composed of two different things, and how information and knowledge pass from one to the other. It is an epistemic question, that is, a philosophy of science question. DNA sequencing in animals is only with DNA, but these DNAs also work like computers. Just like 1-0, 1-0, chemical letters in the brain also work like 4-0, 4-0. Here, the right brain is the spiritual hemisphere, the left brain is for reasoning, analysis, speech, calculation. The right brain is for emotions, intuitions, excitements, creativity, discovery, problem-solving, understanding. The right brain also works conceptually, while the left brain works more rationally.”
"First abstract knowledge, then concrete knowledge emerges"
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan pointed out that first abstract knowledge, and then concrete knowledge emerges. Tarhan said; “According to the philosophy of mind, a human is greater and more than their brain and body. That is, a human is greater than the body and brain. What was Descartes' fallacy here? What did Descartes say? 'I think, therefore I am.' He had indexed only reason and put forward a philosophy that did not accept anything outside of it. Quantum mechanics actually revealed this difference but showed that it couldn't explain the mind. In fact, our mind, our intellect – our intellect corresponding to matter – works like a quantum receiver resonating in the quantum field. What and who is the knowledge, external power, external intelligence that creates and operates this system? Since this is a design, a designer is needed; it's not possible for it to arise from accidental existences. And the materialist view of our brain used to say that mind is the same as brain activity. This idea has now been disproven. The materialist position of the mind, beyond brain activity, is a classical scientific view that considers the mind to be something ongoing; this view was an old view in our psychiatry, meaning this materialist philosophical approach is a reductionist way of thinking. In other words, the phenomena of mind and consciousness, in relation to the neurology of brains, is a completely flattened perspective. This is how materialism emerges in the worldview. It says matter exists first, then thought exists later; whereas we can say that first there is abstract knowledge, and then concrete knowledge emerges.”
