Marriage programs, which left their mark and drew strong reactions in our country for a period, were banned by RTÜK. However, the dose of immorality has further increased in new generation marriage programs that continue to be broadcast on digital publishing platforms. The program called “Aşk Adası” (Love Island), which recently started airing on a digital publishing platform, is one of these immoral programs. In this production, where romantic and dating life is set as a competition format, nudity, adultery, and various perversions are presented under the guise of an entertainment program. The “Aşk Adası” program, which particularly focuses on the relationships that selected young men and women will form with each other and is adorned with various lies for viewership, is unfortunately mostly followed by young people. Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University, made special statements to Milli Gazete regarding new generation marriage programs, which openly threaten our future generations and are somehow not taken seriously enough.
“They take refuge in the purity of words, normalizing evil”
Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Founding Rector of Üsküdar University, made important evaluations regarding new generation marriage programs, stating, “Marriage programs, by taking refuge behind the purity of the words in their names, normalize evil for society. The word 'love' is a very pure word. Such productions, which encourage casual sexuality under the name of love, are among the main causes that will lead to major problems in society. Remaining silent about such programs and allowing the spread of such evils is a great sin. Taking a stand against this is a moral and scientific stance. People's inclination towards this also leads to other problems. We can look at the societies of countries in the world that watched such productions before us and remained silent. A pedophilia association was established in the Netherlands. A Pedophilia Party was established and then shut down. In conclusion, it was established. It is clear where such situations will lead our society.”
“There are 3 stages in male and female relationships”
Emphasizing that there are stages in male and female relationships, Nevzat Tarhan said, “There are 3 stages in male and female relationships. The first stage is friendship relationships. Friendship relationships have rules. Boundaries are clear, and they have a purpose within a framework of respect, such as school friendships and work friendships. The second stage is the getting-to-know-you phase, where there is a dating and courtship approach without sexuality. In this relationship, sexuality is postponed. For this second stage, television productions have started in the United States. Even if girls and boys take friendship courses, television programs are made with the motto 'True Love Waits and No Sexual Intercourse Until Marriage.' The third stage is the state of being a spouse, which involves sexuality. In the programs we mentioned, they use the word 'love,' which is a romantic expression, to refer to the practice of eroticism, which is the 3rd stage.”
“These are productions where the animalization of human beings is present”
Nevzat Tarhan underlined that the increasing audience of these programs is a big problem, saying, “We can see that the practices in the program fall into the category of erotic practices. That is, normally, a person cannot show such intimacy in a social environment. We can see that there is random intimacy. As a result, these are productions where the animalization of human beings is present. It encourages casual sexuality. If a person accepts casual sexuality, we can't do anything about it. You cannot do anything to a person in this regard; it is their own choice. But if the issue is about this being reflected to society as normal, then things need to be done.”
“The symptom of moral degradation is the beginning of the normalization of evil”
Nevzat Tarhan said, “When these programs continue, the normalization of evil occurs. Does a person view casual sexuality as something bad or not? People should ask themselves these questions. Does a person approve of open marriage? Do we approve of a girl or a boy having 3-4 partners at the same time? Open marriages have started in America and Europe. While married, a person gets permission from their spouse and forms a romantic relationship with another person. Do we approve of these? If we do not approve of these, we cannot view such programs as normal. All the people who approve of the questions we asked ourselves above are people who view such productions as normal. The subconscious slowly accepts and normalizes it, making it commonplace. Our thoughts and actions also begin to develop accordingly. The biggest symptom of moral degradation in society is the beginning of the normalization of evil.”
