Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan made statements regarding the formation of the universe to Üsküdar Üniversitesi Media Relations Specialist Ayşe Nur Akçelik. Tarhan, commenting on the assumption that the universe is a simulation, stated that the most recently accepted view is the digital-based universe hypothesis. Tarhan said; “The possibility that the universe is currently a simulation is the best possibility to explain existence. Since the universe is a simulation, there must be a power that wrote the simulation. As the scientific world, we must now address who this power is. The reality of death in our world confirms the simulation theory.”

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan made statements about the changing paradigms in the formation of the universe. Tarhan; “Previously, in quantum dynamics, the view ‘Data is everything’ was accepted. It was said: ‘If you master data, big data, you rule the world. One who does not master data cannot control social mobility, economic mobility, and financial mobility.’ But for current quantum dynamics, it is said: ‘Data is not everything; everything is data.’ This means everything can be converted into a digital format. Since everything can be converted into a digital format, the universe is also a simulation. Currently, quantum physicists advocate the view that the universe is a simulation. External intelligence is required to write the simulation. The possibility of the universe existing by chance is now an irrational possibility. The universe has a design, a designed existence. Tarhan, stating that general assumptions have changed with the Post-Materialist Science Manifesto; “In 2014, Arizona and Columbia Universities published the ‘Post-Materialist Science Manifesto’. The view that materialist thought no longer explains everything is now prevalent. We can also call this the ‘Manifesto of the Unity of Sciences’. Sciences are a whole. To explain the universe, material science is not enough; we need to get help from other sciences such as social sciences and religious sciences. The universe being a simulation has now entered a scientific scope. The metaphor of the universe as a computer is the most plausible formula among the metaphors explaining the existence of the universe. According to the computer metaphor, a computer has hardware, software, and electronic circuits. If someone from space came, started the computer, and tried to figure out ‘How did this software come about?’, they would never solve it. When you delete the software from the computer, the computer does not lose 1 gram. Since the magnetic particles remain the same, its weight does not change. So, the universe is hardware, and it requires software. The software also needs to be programmed.” he said.

Tarhan stated that the universe is explained by the Simulation Theory, and drew attention to the fact that the concept of Metaverse has come to the agenda with this theory. Tarhan; “The new theory explaining the existential reason of the universe is simulation theory. When simulation theory is mentioned, the topic of ‘metaverse’ comes to the agenda. Metaverse is a software, and its Turkish equivalent means virtual universe. In this new universe, people have avatars, and at the same time, serious virtual reality glasses are worn by the person. They do it in a way that can simulate touches. Metaverse combines the concepts of computer game, software team, and physical reality. Metaverse means everyone enters the game and plays by writing a computer game. You play with a joystick on the computer, but here you enter the universe with your avatar. Metaverse has become a virtual universe where lands are sold globally and is connected to physical reality. Thus, quantum dynamicists asked the question of whether the universe is a simulation. Hawking, who passed away in 2018, was one of those who pondered this the most. Hawking; ‘My mathematical mind tells me that this universe is not empty. Therefore, there are multiple universes. They will come to Earth from multiple universes, and they will invade Earth just as we invaded America. We need to take precautions against this. But perhaps they will save us. The Earth, like a dot in the vast universe, is so vibrant, colorful, and dynamic. There is tremendous information here. Our mathematical mind does not allow this huge world to be so vibrant while the vast universe is completely empty. Therefore, there is an unseen reality that we cannot perceive. Since there is an unseen reality here, are unseen forces simulating the world?’ he asks. The reality of death in our world confirms the simulation theory.” he stated.
“Metaverse NFT designs represent brand value”
Tarhan, emphasizing that Metaverse NFT designs represent brand value, stated that there is software in Metaverse that cannot be changed. Tarhan; “NFTs are linked by the same blockchain, so you cannot change them. There, you create your own NFT according to your own game. For example, you build a village, you play football. When you create an avatar, those NFTs represent the brand value you leave there; it says that what defines you is your identity. We enter the computer program with our own identity and write many programs there. We open our own files and windows, but if someone else comes, they can also open their own window and make their own design in the same computer program. Metaverse is an enlarged form of the computer. So, we can also write our own simulation. For example, when playing football here, a game program, a football program, the programmer who wrote the program, knows whether a goal will be scored regardless of the angle you hit the ball, but the player does not know. That's how the metaverse is too. We will enter the metaverse, and the one who wrote the program will know how much money we will spend no matter what we do, but we will not know, we will think we did it ourselves. Currently, it is the same in the universe. The one who wrote the program of the universe knows which outcome we will reach depending on which decision we make. Its name in sacred texts is destiny. In fact, it is the choice we experience. Therefore, a person has free will and free responsibility.” he said.
“If humans lacked the ability of imagination, there would be no simulation”
Tarhan, stating that imagination is part of the simulation; “To the extent that humans gain experience with their free will, and to the extent that we are free in an avatar, we are equally free in this world. We say we are free, but we are free within the genetic boundaries given to us. There is no unlimited and irresponsible freedom. We gain experience, but we are only as free as the space defined for us in the metaverse. In the Metaverse, they mix fantasy with reality. We combine a different reality, a higher reality, there. Because we have free will. Imagination is a part of the simulation. If humans lacked the ability of imagination, there would be no simulation. Imagination gave birth to simulation. Those who do not conform to the simulations in the universe either become schizophrenic or rebellious. Then they make their choices accordingly. Currently, our possibility of being inside a simulation is the strongest possibility explaining existence. What is important here is that the first reality defining this simulation is that the simulation is ‘game over,’ meaning it ends. The second reality is that the world of imagination, the fact that humans are beings capable of producing simulations, is evidence of a grand simulation. Objective reality, according to quantum dynamics, states that there is no such thing as objective reality, or material reality.” he stated.

Tarhan; “While the universe was considered matter-based before the 2000s, it was thought to be energy-based from the beginning of the 2000s. Now, the digital-based universe view prevails. The universe can only be a digital-based universe because there is a digital database. The reality we live in, what we call objective reality, is actually a kind of reflection of the universal database. One of the scientific studies demonstrating this is fundamental consciousness studies. Currently, the most intriguing topics are human and consciousness. According to the latest findings in consciousness studies, humans are subjective observers in the quantum universe. When you observe, consciousness exists; when you don't observe, consciousness disappears. Observation begins when the simulation starts and ends when the simulation ends. We exist only as observers; we are digital beings. Since we are digital beings, objective reality here is actually an extension of the digital universe. The possibility that the universe is currently a simulation is the best possibility to explain existence, but since it is a simulation, there must be a writer for the simulation.
