An event titled “Radio First, Human First” was organized by Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, and Human-Centered Communication Application and Research Center (İLİMER) as part of May 6 Radio Day. Kafa Radio Program Producer Cem Arslan was a guest at the event. Following the live broadcast of the “Gazoz Ağacı” program within the scope of the event, an interview was held. Arslan emphasized that communication is not only a profession but also an area of energy and interaction, stating that students should support themselves with knowledge, foreign language skills, and cultural development.

Communication students talked about the media industry with Cem Arslan



The event began with a broadcast from the Kafa Radio live broadcast vehicle located at the entrance of South Campus A-B Block. Within this scope, the live broadcast of the “Gazoz Ağacı” program was carried out. The live broadcast vehicle was met with great interest from the faculty of communication students.
Following the live broadcast, the interview program continued in the South Campus Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall.

Students directly listened to industry experience
The opening speech of the event was delivered by Asst. Prof. Hale Yaylalı from the Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. Yaylalı expressed their pleasure in bringing Cem Arslan, who has undertaken important works in the media sector for many years, together with the students. Yaylalı stated that the event offered an important opportunity for students to directly observe industry experience.

Cem Arslan: “Communication is an area of energy and interaction”
Kafa Radio Program Producer Cem Arslan stated in the interview that communication skills are not limited to education alone. Arslan, stating that communication is also an area of energy and interaction, drew attention to the importance of students continuously developing themselves.
Arslan; “Not everyone who enters a faculty of communication can emerge as a communicator from here. Communication is about being able to connect with people, manage the energy of one's environment, and express oneself correctly. Communication is an area of energy and interaction,” he said.

“Communication must be supported with knowledge”
Arslan, emphasizing the importance of knowledge accumulation for success in the field of communication, said that students should not limit themselves to just classes. Arslan stated that learning foreign languages, producing projects, and increasing cultural knowledge provide significant advantages in the industry, and emphasized that communicators should be individuals who closely follow the agenda.
Arslan; “Having strong self-confidence is not enough. The most important thing to nurture it is knowledge. You must support your comments and the communication you establish with knowledge,” he said.


Great interest from students
Throughout the event, students asked Cem Arslan questions regarding the media industry, radio broadcasting, and career planning. In the interview, which took place in a sincere atmosphere, Arslan shared his professional experiences and offered advice to students regarding the field of communication.

Following the Q&A session, Head of Radio, Television and Cinema Department Assoc. Prof. Esennur Sirer presented a certificate to Cem Arslan.
