MOU Signed with Sudan Kur’an-ı Kerim ve İslami Bilimler Üniversitesi

Üsküdar University continues its efforts to develop international academic collaborations. In this context, a delegation from Sudan Kur’an-ı Kerim ve İslami Bilimler Üniversitesi visited Üsküdar University. During the meeting, information was mutually shared about the academic and scientific work of the two universities, and cooperation opportunities were evaluated. Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the two universities.  

The signing ceremony held in the Senate Hall of Üsküdar University Central Campus was attended by President of Üsküdar University, Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Scientific Affairs Secretary of Sudan Kur’an-ı Kerim ve İslami Bilimler Üniversitesi, Dr. Ayoub Abdullah Ali Mohammed, Rector's Advisor Prof. Mehmet Zelka, Head of International Relations Department Peyman Jaferi, and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assistant Mehmet Kaymaz.

Academic Studies of the Two Universities Evaluated

During the meeting, the academic and scientific works of Üsküdar University and Sudan Kur’an-ı Kerim ve İslami Bilimler Üniversitesi were discussed.
During the talks, potential joint projects and areas of academic collaboration between the two institutions were evaluated.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: “We are moving forward with an approach that synthesizes religious sciences with natural sciences”

President of Üsküdar University, Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, delivered a speech within the scope of the meeting. Tarhan stated: “Hopefully, this protocol will not remain merely on paper, but will also be put into practice. As a university, we are moving forward not only through natural sciences but with an approach that synthesizes religious sciences with natural sciences. Currently, we have 89 Sudanese students. Hopefully, this number will increase further with this collaboration.” he said.

Dr. Ayoub Abdullah Ali Mohammed: “Our University Has Been Directly Orienting Towards Turkey Since Its Establishment”

Scientific Affairs Secretary of Sudan Kur’an-ı Kerim ve İslami Bilimler Üniversitesi, Dr. Ayoub Abdullah Ali Mohammed, delivered a speech within the program. Mohammed stated: “Kur’an-ı Kerim University started as the Faculty of Kur’an-ı Kerim in 1983. In 1990, it was transformed into Kur’an-ı Kerim University with 9 faculties each for male and female students. The main objective of our university is to establish a connection between natural sciences and religious sciences. Furthermore, our university places importance on three main axes. These are the education process, scientific research, and community service. Universities in Sudan generally orient strategically towards different countries around the world. There are universities oriented towards England, France, USA, Gulf countries, or especially Saudi Arabia. However, our university has been directly orienting towards Turkey since its establishment.” he said.

Development of Academic and Scientific Collaboration Aimed

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Üsküdar University and Sudan Kur’an-ı Kerim ve İslami Bilimler Üniversitesi.

The signed agreement aims to develop academic and scientific collaboration between the two universities, increase the sharing of knowledge and experience, and support mutual academic activities.

Contribution to International Academic Collaborations

This collaboration is expected to lay the groundwork for developing academic relations between the two universities and for carrying out joint projects in various fields.
