Biosecurity Master's Program Launched

The Biosecurity Master's Program, focusing on critical issues in health, science, and security, will offer academic career opportunities to those who want to develop themselves in this field with its interdisciplinary education and research model. Candidates with an undergraduate degree from any of the fields of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, or Health Sciences can apply to the program. Applications aimed at preventing and elucidating bioterror attacks are among the notable trainings within the program.




Biosecurity master's degree

Üsküdar University Institute of Addiction and Forensic Sciences, the Biosecurity Master's Program launched under its umbrella aims to address critical issues arising in fields such as health, science, and security through an interdisciplinary research and education model.

Be prepared for biological attacks

Within the scope of the Biosecurity Master's Program courses, education will be provided on the scientific foundations of biosecurity, technologies used and likely to be used in this field, applications aimed at preventing and elucidating bioterror attacks, and national and international legal regulations.

The master's program will encompass the knowledge and skills to assess the risks posed by bio-attacks to public health and security, prepare large populations for biological attacks, and develop strategies to cope with stress and fear.

A score of over 55 from ALES is required

For candidates to apply to the Biosecurity Master's Program, the graduation requirement is an undergraduate degree from any of the fields of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, or Health Sciences. Applications from fields other than these will be accepted upon the proposal of the Institute's Executive Board and the decision of the University Senate. For thesis-based master's applications, a minimum score of 55 from ALES within the last five years is required. Having obtained the lowest ALES score accepted by the senate for the relevant program, or its equivalent GRE and GMAT test scores determined by the Interuniversity Board, was also announced as another condition for opting for the program.

Foreign national students will also be admitted

Foreign national students and students residing abroad can also participate in the program. Students in this group wishing to join the program are required to have an undergraduate or graduate diploma from a university whose equivalency is accepted by the Council of Higher Education. Additionally, they must have obtained GRE or GMAT scores equivalent to ALES scores within the last two years, or succeed in a science examination conducted by the scientific committee formed by the Institute's Executive Board and proposed by the head of the Institute's main branch.

The language of instruction will be Turkish

Depending on their undergraduate fields, students admitted to the program may be offered scientific preparatory courses at undergraduate and/or graduate level if necessary. Excluding Scientific Preparation, students are required to take courses corresponding to at least 60 ECTS credits during two consecutive semesters. Subsequently, a two-semester period will be allocated for the thesis, worth 60 ECTS. The duration of the thesis-based master's program, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, is four semesters starting from the period when courses for the registered program are given, regardless of whether registration was made for each semester, and the program will be completed in a maximum of six semesters. The language of instruction for the Biosecurity Master's Program will be Turkish.

The science examination will be held on September 18 and 25, in 4 separate sessions at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
