ASDER Members Come Together for Traditional Iftar Dinner

The traditional iftar dinner of the Association of Defenders of Justice (ASDER) was hosted by Üsküdar Üniversitesi. Families gathered at the iftar dinner, which was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, the Founding Rector of Üsküdar Üniversitesi and also the Chairman of the Board of ASDER.

At the iftar program held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi NP Health Campus, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Chairman of the Board of ASDER, stated that they were happy to participate in yet another traditional iftar program.

“A believer's help to another believer is prayer”

At the iftar program, which drew great interest from ASDER members and their families, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan delivered the opening speech. Emphasizing the importance of prayer in the final days of the month of Ramadan, Tarhan said; “We are nearing the end of Ramadan, and a believer's help to another believer is prayer, so let us pray abundantly these days. We are in a period where it is very easy to gain rewards in Ramadan. Laylat al-Qadr is an opportunity for everyone to open their hearts to Allah. It is an opportunity for us to recognize our mistakes and shortcomings. These opportunities must be utilized well. If you use your mind in the face of opportunities, you are lucky; if you don't use your mind, the opportunity passes by. Ramadan also offers us spiritual opportunities; whoever uses them will see their benefits, because the only truth in life that we can never change, without exception, is the reality of death.”

“Hopefully, we will not be among those who fall into heedlessness…”

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, drawing attention to two important signs of prayer, said; “Firstly, if a person performs worship feeling that Allah sees them, in such situations they open their heart to their Lord, saying, 'He sees me.' This applies to both Ramadan and other acts of worship. Secondly, one should pray thinking as if they will die tomorrow, which fosters a sense of accountability against malevolent impulses; one should think, 'This might be my last prayer, my last act of worship, my last Ramadan.' For this reason, hopefully, we will not be among those who fall into heedlessness. May your Ramadan be blessed once again, may Allah accept it,” he concluded his words.

The iftar program held was met with great interest by the association's members and their families.
