The "Al-Mizan: A Covenant for the Earth" declaration, supported by Üsküdar Üniversitesi, and including the Head of the Philosophy Department, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özdemir, is becoming a focus of interest and is discussed on new platforms every day. A core group of Muslim environmentalists continues to work globally to mitigate the effects of climate change and enlighten society on the matter, aiming to strengthen local, regional, and international actions that combat climate change and other threats to the planet.

Supported by UNEP, which aims to present an Islamic perspective, “Al Mizan – A Covenant for the Earth” continues to be a focus of interest on new platforms every day. The goal is for this call to symbolize a global effort by involving Islamic scholars and Muslim institutions in its development and adoption.
“Al-Mizan – A Covenant for the Earth” consists of a re-expression of principles governing the protection of nature, in a way that meets current challenges. Emphasis is placed on the moral principles behind the social order of human existence.

In this context, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özdemir, Head of the Philosophy Department at Üsküdar University, speaking at the "International Symposium on Sustainability and Islamic Finance," drew attention to the economic dimension of Al-Mizan. He underlined that the Islamic finance system should be built upon the principle of sustainability; and that unlimited and irresponsible consumption and development are not possible in a world created by Allah with a certain measure, balance, and harmony.
Özdemir stated, “Research is being conducted on how to put this into practice today, working in harmony with the heartbeat of the natural world that Allah created and entrusted us to protect. It continues to call for an understanding of sustainable development in line with the fundamental principles of the Qur'an.”
