The guest of the Instagram live broadcast organized by İstanbul Erkek Lisesi was Üsküdar Üniversitesi Psychology Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan. Canan made evaluations regarding the content of 'Overcoming Limits' (Sınırları Aşmak), the latest volume in 'Human's Factory Settings' (İnsanın Fabrika Ayarları) series, and shared important insights about humanity and life.

"I define humans as follows: 'The only living creature that malfunctions when full'"
Speaking about humans' factory settings, Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan said, "Human's Factory Settings is a simple formula or scientific theory I found while trying to research the path to our right life in 5 points and 1 principle. This theory has a feature; all theories are written for scientists in scientific language, but our theory was written for the public. That is, everyone should take it, read it, try it at home, and not have to arbitrate between experts' opinions. If possible, let them be their own preventive physician, coach, psychological counselor... etc., and understand their own equipment and live well.
In summary, the 5 points are as follows;
- We will move,
- We will eat less,
- We will have good emotional and fulfilling, trustworthy social relationships, because we get sick when we are alone… Humans are too weak a living creature to survive alone; the system has guaranteed this in such a way that if you are alone, your body malfunctions.
- We will learn to control our stress, which is a life-saving system that works perfectly in all animals. Because we are the only living creatures that can produce stress mentally.
- We must push our limits in our settings. Spiritual, physical, psychological, geographical… Whatever comes to mind, we cannot feel good without pushing the boundaries we find ourselves in and believe to be our destiny. If we stay within those limits, it feels comfortable at first, but if we live in the same routine for a long time, we say, 'wait a minute, there's a problem.' Because I define humans as 'the only living creature that malfunctions when full.' As material possibilities increase, human inner distress also increases. Therefore, a person can only be happy if they push their limits, develop and expand themselves, use their creative mental powers to bring forth things that do not exist in this world, and prepare to leave from here in that way." He said.
Why is an emotional bond important?
Stating that the meaning of our life is related to our purpose, Canan said, "Postponements like 'we'll go tomorrow, we'll do it tomorrow' are actually a way of thinking that is not our friend in this mortal world. There is no procrastination, fatigue, or boredom; there is only little passion. If you do something with little passion, you postpone it, find excuses, leave it for later. But if you intend to do it with great passion, you will overcome it even if mountains stand between you and that matter. Therefore, if we intend to do something and cannot continue, cannot do it, or cannot make it a habit, it means we do not have enough connection with that subject – let's call it a heartfelt connection… Such an emotional connection does not exist. In cases where there is enough emotional connection, you cannot stop; you postpone everything else for it. To continue something, we need to feel inner pleasure." He said.
"The meaning of life is responsibility"
Stating that what makes this life meaningful is taking on the responsibility for an idea, a path, or a group of people outside yourself, Canan said, "The meaning of life is responsibility, which means having a story. We see that people who can do this leave this world in great peace, departing with the comfort of having surrendered to the system." He added.
