System supporting social harmony received utility model
Institutional solution for social harmony processes
The adaptation of students, especially international students from different cultures, to academic and social life upon entering university, stands out as an important part of education quality.
Üsküdar University transformed this process beyond individual efforts into an institutional, measurable, and sustainable structure. The “Target Friendship Management System” was granted a Utility Model Certificate by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office under the number TR 2022 009522 Y.
The “Target Friendship Management System,” developed by President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector's Advisor Prof. Muhsin Konuk, and Asst. Prof. Gülcan Ayral from the Department of Management Information Systems, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, is considered one of the prominent examples of social innovation in higher education with its student-oriented approach.

A model born and developed from the field
The foundations of the system were laid through direct observation of needs within the campus.
The model, developed based on data obtained from the field by the International Student Relations Office, ISSTeam, and TFTeam, was matured with the contributions of academic and administrative stakeholders.
Initially designed as a mentorship application, the structure gradually evolved into a comprehensive management system encompassing measurement, monitoring, and reporting processes.

Holistic and digitally supported structure
The “Target Friendship Management System” brings together many stages under one roof, from mentor and mentor leader selection to mentee applications, from matching processes to academic representative support. The system provides mechanisms for monitoring student needs, directing problems to relevant units, planning event and training processes, and feedback and reporting within a holistic structure.
Some components of the digitally supported system have been integrated into software and CRM environments, making it a more effective, measurable, and sustainable structure. In this respect, the model represents the transformation of a social harmony-centered approach into institutional innovation.

Under protection for 10 years
The invention registered on March 23, 2026, has been protected for a period of 10 years under Industrial Property Law No. 6769. This development is considered an important step that strengthens Üsküdar University's vision of “human values and social innovation.”
Strategic support from BrainPark TTO
Üsküdar University BrainPark Technology Transfer Office (TTO) provided strategic support at all stages of the project, from the idea phase to the registration process. This support played an important role in the registration of the said model as an institutional innovation.
With this success, Üsküdar University continues to contribute to Türkiye’s science and innovation ecosystem not only in technological products but also in systems that manage social interaction. The “Target Friendship Management System” brings a new perspective to the student-focused management approach.
