ENMER (Barrier-Free Life Support Application and Research Center) Success Knows No Barriers...

Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports (SKS) Department organized a program titled "Success Knows No Barriers" within the scope of December 3 World Disability Day. Lawyer MP Serkan Bayram took part in the program as a speaker and Bayram drew attention to the fact that no one should be left behind because of disabilities in the Turkish century of our Republic. Saying why there should not be a disabled rector in the new century, Bayram said, "The state is not governed by hands and feet, the state is governed by heart and mind and brain. What we cannot hold with our hands, we will hold in our hearts and we will never let go."

The seminar organized within the scope of the University Culture course was held at Üsküdar University Emirnebi 1 conference hall.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka: "80% of the disabled people in the world belong to developing countries"

Making the opening speeches, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka emphasized that it is possible to eliminate some of the obstacles with the advancement of technology. Zelka; "If disabled individuals are given the opportunity, if they are given the opportunity, if they are trusted, it is observed. We all have a responsibility. Our country is a developing country. 80% of the disabled people in the world are from developing countries. As a developing country, we need to pay attention to this. With the development of technology, it is possible to eliminate even some of the disabilities. In this respect, health policy makers need to take this into account. This seminar is an important seminar to raise awareness. I believe that it will contribute to the continuation of the welfare, happiness and dignified life that our disabled citizens deserve."

Physiotherapist Eren Olcay Erdoğan: "Families need to take on the role of a second physiotherapist"

Physiotherapist Eren Olcay Erdoğan, a graduate of Pamukkale University Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, who emphasized the importance of family concept in special education and rehabilitation; "December 3 World Day of Persons with Disabilities is an awareness day celebrated by the United Nations on December 3 every year since 1992. Every year a theme is created for it. This year's theme is determined as saving and achieving sustainable development goals by acting together with the disabled for the disabled. Here I would like to talk about the role of people with disabilities and their families in physiotherapy. Rehabilitation intervenes in society not only to ensure the education and adaptation of individuals with disabilities, but also to facilitate their relationship with their existing environment and their social integration. The fundamental institution that is inevitable for the success of special education and rehabilitation is the family. Today, in accordance with the foundations of special education, the disabled individual, his/her family and the institution are considered as parts of the whole that complement each other. It is necessary to participate in family education programs offered in rehabilitation centers. Families need to take on the role of a second physiotherapist. They should support the disabled person socially, emotionally and psychologically. Support the development of the relationship between the disabled person and the community. They should support each other with the families of other people with disabilities. We should all work together for a world without barriers."

Necdet Öztürk: "Removing barriers is a right, not an understanding"

Necdet Öztürk, Founding President of the Global Disabled Foundation, started his speech by giving information about the foundation he founded. Emphasizing that the inclusion of people with disabilities in society should be viewed as a right, not as a mercy, Mr. Öztürk said: "I established Turkey's first foundation for the disabled with Mr. Tayyip Erdoğan, who is now our President, the Foundation for the Physically Disabled in 1995. The Global Disabled People's Foundation is a top network, a strong network with more than 400 institutions and organizations organized in 127 countries. We work to produce products, systems and services. Our organization has an industrial sectoral opening that will ensure participation in life, not an approach in an individual emotional format. Our main concern is inclusive education. Education is of primary importance. Children with disabilities should participate in education between primary school and university. At Carleton University in Canada, there are visual, hearing, physical and able-bodied students in a classroom and they all take the same course from the same teacher at the same time. We call this inclusive education. In our country, we have models such as school for the blind, school for the deaf and so on. Since life is not just about education, marriage, employment, social life are all integrated. You take care of that process from there and you are not segregated. Accessible university accessible route. It is not enough to organize a place for one area. It is not right for a disabled student to come to a classroom and then go home. The law on the disabled is the seventh article of the 5378 law. Common use areas must be made legally. This is a legal right. The first principle accepted in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the United Nations is not about the disabled. It is about the prevention of disability. Because after something is lost, its cost to the person, society, system and family is very high. Prevention work is vitally important. Because people do not understand something until they lose it. This needs to be explained. This is our second goal. Removing barriers and including people with disabilities in society. It is necessary to put this on the table as a right, not in the format of compassion, understanding, approach sensitivity, and to carry it out as such."

Lawyer MP Serkan Bayram: "In the Turkish century of our Republic, no one should be left behind because of disabilities"

Lawyer and MP Serkan Bayram, who took the floor afterwards, drew attention to the need to act consciously about people with disabilities not only on the Day of Persons with Disabilities, but every day of the year. Bayram; "December 3 is the day of awareness on the Day of Persons with Disabilities. These days should not be remembered as a day, we are in a period when this issue should be acted consciously for humanity 365 days a year. Why is the movie Wheat Grain important? Children will get used to it against peer bullying, that is, when they see a disabled person in the classroom, their friends make fun of them and there is an adaptation problem and at this point this movie will be important. They will see that a disabled person can become a teacher, a civil servant and a judge in this country. In the Turkish century of our Republic, no one should be left behind because of disabilities. Our struggle, both in this movie and in these experiences, is that no one should be left behind because of their disabilities. In a new century, we will also have a disabled rector. The state is not governed by hands and feet, the state is governed by heart and mind. The important thing is that there are no obstacles here. A finger is 50 years of life, but what a struggle, after all, we have to be hope, to be light, to hold on, to pursue our dreams. We will not be losers when we give up, not when we fall down. What we cannot hold with our hands, we will hold in our hearts and we will never let go. We will say that one grain of wheat is the voice and story of millions."

Grain of Wheat tells the story of a disabled individual's struggle to hold on to life

The movie "Grain of Wheat", based on the life of MP Serkan Bayram, tells the story of a disabled person's struggle to hold on to life. The film, which has given hope to many disabled people since its release and raised the awareness of the audience about disabilities, was shown in mobile trucks in different provinces after the movie theaters. "Grain of Wheat" was uploaded to EBA for teachers, students and parents to watch on December 3, the Day of Persons with Disabilities.
