Üsküdar University Additional Quota and Additional Placement Guide
The university placement process can be quite stressful and complicated for many candidates. For candidates who could not get into the department they wanted in the initial placement, or who did not make any preferences, the additional quota and additional placement processes represent a second chance and are of great importance. In this guide, you can find detailed information specific to Üsküdar University on additional quotas, the application process, points to pay attention to, and the most frequently asked questions.
What Are Additional Quota and Additional Placement?
What is the difference between additional quota and additional placement?
Additional quota refers to the extra student quotas granted to universities by YÖK (the Council of Higher Education). These quotas are added to the program's regular term quota and are generally determined according to the program's popularity or need.
Additional placement, on the other hand, is a second preference period held for quotas left vacant because candidates did not register after the initial placement. In additional placement, programs may cover both the vacant initial quotas and the additional quotas.
In short:
Additional quota = refers to the opportunity to apply for quotas left vacant after central placement.
Additional placement = the process of admitting new students to fill quotas left vacant in the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Examination) due to candidates not being placed in the initial placement or not registering.
Who can apply for additional quotas?
The following candidates can apply for additional placement:
- Candidates who were not placed in any program in the initial placement
- Candidates who did not make any preferences
- Candidates who were placed but did not register and wish to make preferences again (no OBP/success-score deduction is applied)
- All candidates who took the exam during the year and hold a valid YKS score
Üsküdar University's Vacant Additional Quotas
With its health-sciences-focused structure, Üsküdar University is among Turkey's leading foundation universities. Departments with additional quotas or vacancies — particularly in psychology, health management, nursing, and engineering — can present an important opportunity for candidates.
Additional quotas in undergraduate programs
Additional quotas at the undergraduate level are generally shaped by universities' demand intensity, registration rates, and quota planning. Vacant quotas can occasionally arise in many faculties. These vacancies may vary depending on the general level of interest in the academic field, the rate at which the department is preferred, and the intensity of applications during the year. Quotas opened in undergraduate programs during additional placement periods vary from year to year and offer candidates a second placement opportunity.
Additional quotas in associate degree programs
Associate degree programs within universities' vocational schools can see high demand due to their applied-education-focused structure. As a result, vacant quotas may remain in various programs depending on the fill rate during the initial placement period. During the additional placement process, vocational school programs mostly offer candidates additional options thanks to their flexible quota structure. Additional quotas in associate degree programs vary each year depending on the department's applied nature, regional demand, and student interest.
Additional quotas in English-medium programs
Undergraduate programs taught in a foreign language attract interest due to both international opportunities and advantages oriented toward the global job market. However, vacant quotas can occasionally arise in these programs as well. Whether an additional quota is opened in English-medium departments depends on the program's student profile, level of demand, preparatory-class structure, and preference movement during the year. During additional placement periods, this can become an option offering candidates extra opportunities in terms of both language education and academic content.

In line with the 2026-2027 YKS Additional Preference Guide to be published by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), universities' vacant quotas and base scores will be announced.

Review details such as the scholarships, discounts, and language of instruction offered by the university.
Fill your 24 preferences strategically, in the range most suitable for your own success ranking.
How should you choose a program based on your score?
A few preferences can be written for departments slightly higher than your score.
Programs at the same level as your score should be in the middle of the list.
