Double Major and Minor

Double Major Program (DMP): It is a program that allows students who successfully complete their undergraduate programs to take courses simultaneously in a second undergraduate or associate degree program that they are interested in, and students who successfully complete their associate degree programs to take courses simultaneously in a second associate degree program that they are interested in and receive a diploma.

Minor Program: It is a program that allows students who successfully complete their undergraduate programs to receive a certificate by taking courses simultaneously in a second undergraduate program they are interested in.

Double Major / Minor procedures are carried out within the framework of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transition, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer between Associate and Undergraduate Programs in Higher Education Institutions" and Üsküdar University Double Major Program Directive and Minor Program Directive.

Application Requirements (DMP)

  1. Students can apply to the second major diploma program at the beginning of the third and fifth semesters of the major undergraduate diploma program (once a year at the beginning of the academic year) at the earliest, and at the beginning of the second and third semesters of the major associate degree program at the latest.
  2. Students whose GPA in the major diploma program at the time of application is at least 3.25 out of 4 and who are in the top twenty percent of the relevant class of the major diploma program in terms of success ranking can apply to the second major diploma program.
  3. In order to apply to the double major diploma program, the student must successfully complete all the courses taken in the major diploma program until the semester of application.
  4. Students who have a GPA of at least 3.25 in the major diploma program, but who are not in the top 20% of the relevant class of the major diploma program in terms of success ranking, and who have a score not less than the base score of the program to be double majored in the relevant year can also apply to the double major program.

Application Requirements (Minor)

  1. Students can apply to the minor program at the beginning of the third semester of the major undergraduate program at the earliest and the sixth semester at the latest.
  2. At the time of application, the student's GPA in the major program must be at least 3.00 out of 4.
  3. Students who have successfully completed all credit courses in the undergraduate program until the semester they apply to the minor program can apply.

Double Major De-enrollment

Students are deregistered from the DMP program in the following cases:

a) During the DMP education, the GPA in the major program may drop to 2.50 for one time only. Students whose GPA falls below 2.72 for the second time are dismissed from the double major program.
b) Students who fail to register for courses in the double major program for two consecutive semesters are dismissed from the DMP.
c) Students who are disenrolled or dismissed from the DMP for any reason cannot apply to the DMP again.

Double Major Grace Period

The period of study for students who have the right to graduate from the major diploma program but cannot complete the second major diploma program is the maximum period specified in paragraph (c) of Article 44 of Law No. 2547, starting from the academic year in which they enroll in the second major diploma program. (Article 44/c: Undergraduate programs with a four-year education period must be completed within a maximum of seven years )

Minor Registration Deletion

Students are deregistered from the minor program in the following cases:

a) In order for the student to continue the minor program, the grade point average in the major program must be at least 2.30. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be dismissed from the minor program.

b) Students who fail to register for two consecutive semesters in the minor program are deregistered from the minor program.

Minor Additional Period

Students who have achieved the right to graduate from the major diploma program but cannot complete the minor program can be extended for a maximum of two semesters with the decision of the board of directors of the relevant faculty.

Graduation

In order for the student to graduate from the double major program, the GPA must be at least 2.72 and the ECTS successfully completed must be 240 for undergraduate programs and 120 for associate degree programs.

With the decision of our University Senate, it has been decided that Double Major (DMP) applications will be made at the beginning of the academic year, once a year in undergraduate departments.
