Üsküdar University embraces quality as an endless journey of development positioned at the center of its corporate culture. This journey is managed through a comprehensive Quality Policy based on the principles of technology orientation, universal standards, continuous improvement, and stakeholder satisfaction.

What Does MEDEK Accreditation Mean?
Vocational schools are the most critical educational institutions that train the highly equipped, practically minded, and technologically literate intermediate workforce urgently needed by industry and the healthcare sector in line with Turkey's development vision. In this context, the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK), which certifies the quality of vocational programs, was established in 2021 with the encouragement of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and was officially authorized by YÖKAK in 2023 to grant accreditation to associate degree programs. MEDEK's fundamental vision is to define the quality of the intermediate workforce according to national and international standards and to filter educational processes through a lens of quality, sharing the results with all sector stakeholders.

MEDEK Accreditation Evaluation Process and Criteria
The Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services applied for the MEDEK Accreditation process at the beginning of 2026 to verify the validity of its practice-oriented educational philosophy. The external evaluation mechanism carried out by MEDEK is a rigorous process where the entire program is examined, not just the curriculum. Üsküdar University VSHS programs navigated this process with a much higher level of performance.
During the MEDEK accreditation, the process was meticulously managed under the high-level coordination of Üsküdar University VSHS Vice Directors Assoc. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek and Lecturer Esad Sadık Demirtaş. Throughout the intensive site visit conducted at the university campus on October 30–31 and November 1, 2025, the MEDEK evaluation team personally inspected the classrooms, advanced technology simulation centers, medical laboratories, and workshops on-site. The scope of the visit evaluated not only the spatial infrastructure, but also deeply questioned the compliance of educational-instructional processes with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications
Framework (TYÇ), the pedagogical and professional competence of the academic staff, the quality of clinical areas where students will intern, and the institution's relationships with external stakeholders. The site visit was successfully completed with the reading of the program exit statement.

Üsküdar University VSHS "Full Accreditation" Recipient Programs
According to the official decisions announced by MEDEK as a result of the evaluation, two programs within Üsküdar University VSHS have been deemed worthy of the "Full Accreditation" certificate, proving that they fully meet the highest level of quality standards:
| Accredited Program | Accreditation Body | Accreditation Type | Validity Start | Validity End |
|
First and Emergency Aid Program |
MEDEK | Full Accreditation | 01.01.2026 | 31.12.2029 |
|
Medical Laboratory Techniques Program |
MEDEK | Full Accreditation | 01.01.2026 | 31.12.2029 |
This full accreditation status obtained for both programs within Üsküdar University VSHS is valid uninterruptedly for four years. This result signifies the national recognition by an independent auditing mechanism of the university’s practice-oriented educational approach that blends theory with practice. Other VSHS programs are also being integrated into a similar quality journey and operate their own self-evaluation mechanisms through Institutional Self-Evaluation Reports.

Strategic Advantages of Accreditation for Prospective Students and Graduates
Achieving accreditation for a vocational school program means that the student obtains not just a diploma, but a competitive shield they will carry for a lifetime. The multi-layered impacts of this certification on students and graduates are as follows:
1. Strengthened Employment Opportunities: The healthcare sector is dynamic, innovative, and has zero tolerance for error. Employers always prioritize program graduates whose technical skills have passed an independent external audit during recruitment processes. Accreditation means zero risk for the employer and an easy job-finding advantage for the graduate.
2. Standardization and Consistency in Learning Outcomes: The curriculum under MEDEK assurance is designed to reflect the real-time needs of the sector. It ensures complete consistency between the theoretical knowledge the student acquires, the practice they apply during internships, and the equipment they will encounter in the field upon graduation.
3. Clinical Experience and Industry Collaborations: Beyond being just an academic campus, Üsküdar University’s strong connections—which provide its students with clinical rotations in top-tier healthcare institutions such as Ankara City Hospital—meet the field application requirement sought in accreditation processes at the highest level.
4. International Recognition and Global Mobility: Accreditation enables a program to break free from regional constraints and speak a language of international standards. It creates the fundamental legitimacy required for graduates to look for jobs abroad, apply for top-up degree programs in Europe, and become global healthcare professionals.
Health Services Vocational School (VSHS) Comprehensive Program Matrix
Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services possesses an exceptionally wide spectrum of programs in order to respond to Turkey's changing demographic structure, increasing elderly population, developing surgical technologies, and intensive specialization needs in medical informatics fields. An interdisciplinary education model that blends theory and practice is implemented so that students graduate as highly qualified technicians.
Healthcare education demands seriousness; therefore, the institution enforces a strict attendance policy across all its programs. According to Üsküdar University’s compulsory course attendance regulations, students are required to physically attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and at least 80% of laboratory and clinical practice courses. This discipline is at the forefront of the factors bringing success in MEDEK accreditations.
Beyond traditional programs, Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services also provides education in highly specific and high-technology niche fields such as Perfusion Techniques, Autopsy Assistanthood, Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety, and Biomedical Device Technology. This status directly aligns with the vision of becoming a society that produces and uses technology within Turkey's development targets. Customer satisfaction rates in health laboratories and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) survey feedback received from external stakeholders confirm that the adaptation process of students graduating from these programs into the field is remarkably fast.
The University’s Position in Global Rankings and Research Outputs
The ultimate reflection of quality certifications is the rise in global research and prestige indexes. This massive structure constructed by Üsküdar University through its quality credentials has also entered the radar of independent international higher education ranking agencies.
In the 2026 global university rankings of Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most prestigious ranking organizations, Üsküdar University proved its presence in the international arena by placing in the 1500+ band. In the local ecosystem, it charted a significant graph of success by rising to 13th place among foundation (private) universities in Turkey. In the QS Europe University Rankings 2026 data, which evaluates its impact on a European scale, it is steadily increasing its visibility by positioning at 79th place in the West Asia region and within the 701-900 band in the general European rankings. In the EduRank 2026 reports, its ranking at 2918th globally and 59th among 175 universities in Turkey confirms the university's steady upward trend. Furthermore, positioning at 58th across Turkey in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026, which is based on innovation and academic article outputs, is a tangible return on the institutional R&D strategy and quality policies. In the context of health sciences, particularly ranking 2501st globally and 77th in Turkey in medicine fields (clinical psychology, psychiatry, radiology, etc.) clarifies the high-level research atmosphere that VSHS students are immersed in.
All these rankings create institutional research momentum, supported by processes such as the Student Congresses organized and the ORPHEUS/AMSE (Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System) Evaluation Certificate, as stated in the 2022 Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (KİDR).
Far beyond a traditional associate degree educational institution, Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services possesses the character of a "Health Technologies Incubation Center" structured with a vision of global competency. The fact that the First and Emergency Aid along with the Medical Laboratory Techniques programs hold MEDEK full accreditation valid until 2029 proves that the institutional quality policy is no coincidence.
When taken as a whole—YÖKAK Institutional Accreditation processes, PDCA improvement cycles, laboratory standards in ISO norms, Pearson BTEC vocational qualification integration, and TQF (TYÇ) compliant European Validity (Blue Diploma) mechanisms—it is clearly observed that the institution aims to raise its students as global healthcare workers. Incorporating the semantic and structural architecture applied throughout the report into the web strategy will transform this magnificent academic quality built by the university into unique organic visibility in next-generation search algorithms driven by artificial intelligence. In light of the fact that algorithms reference contents that are inimitable, highly detailed, technical, and decision- supporting, such a harmonious integration of institutional quality with digital strategy will multiply the brand value and authority of the Vocational School.
