ÜSUZEM (Distance Education Application and Research Center) Frequently Asked Questions

I cannot enter the LMS system, what should I do?

You can enter the LMS System with your OBS username (student number) and password information, if you do not remember your information, you can request to learn your password from the "Forgot Password" field on the page.

Is there an attendance obligation?

Even if you cannot attend your classes synchronously (live), you must attend asynchronous (video recorded) classes. The distance education process is a medium where courses are conducted online, not face-to-face, in order to ensure the academic development of our students. Therefore, the education process continues from where it left off, provided that attendance to the classes is strictly required.

I am a Double Major Program (DMP) / Minor Program student, all my courses do not appear on LMS, what should I do?

Double Major or Minor Program students can access their Double Major / Minor Program courses by logging into the system with their student numbers and passwords defined separately for these programs.

How can I attend live lectures in LMS?

Access your course list from the "My Courses" menu in LMS and select the course in which the live lecture will start. The live lessons that have started will appear as "Started". When you click on it, you can log in to your live lessons.

Can I ask questions to the instructor in live lectures in LMS?

After our students enter the lessons, the instructor cannot hear the students unless the student's microphone feature is activated. During the live lesson, our students see the participants in the "Participants" area on the right side of the screen and can ask their questions about the lesson from the "Chat" area.

Can I make presentations or share files during live lessons in LMS?

For students who want to share files, the instructor should select the student among the participants and activate the "Sharing" feature. The student who is authorized to share can upload files from the "My Files" area on the screen visible to all students and can make a presentation if the instructor activates the microphone feature.

I do not have access to internet connection, I cannot follow the lessons, what can I do?

Distance Education is an academic interaction process that requires an internet connection and active participation in the courses. Therefore, it is important and necessary for our students to follow the courses by providing an internet connection. Students who cannot attend synchronous (live) classes during the day can access the course content asynchronously after providing an internet connection and download the course documents shared with them.

I missed the live class, how can I access the course content?

If our students miss the live lectures, they can watch the asynchronous lecture, that is, the lecture of that lecture recorded as a video, at any time they wish, asynchronous lectures are stored in the system as constantly accessible and kept open to the benefit of our students.

How will we be conducting practical courses?

Since our students will not be able to come to the laboratories and practice in this process, applied courses can be carried out in an intensive manner or in the form of application lectures in live classes until the 2020-2021 Fall Semester (during the summer semester) with the decision of the relevant program / department head. You can get information about the method of conducting practical courses by contacting the program / department chairs.

How will we participate in Midterm or Final exams, how will our exams be conducted online?

Midterm exams can be done as homework or online exams, provided that the instructor who teaches the course shares with the students how to do it in advance. Online exam questions can be given in the form of multiple choice or open-ended exam questions. Final exams will only be conducted as online exams. An informative video on how our students can participate in the exams, how they can answer and finalize the exam questions will be shared with our students on our https://uskudar.edu.tr/tr/uek page as soon as possible.
