General Information

Transgenic cell technologies play an important role in elucidating disease mechanisms, developing new medical treatments based on these mechanisms and more specifically in the production of recombinant proteins. In particular, genome modifications were made possible at the cellular level after the existence of the CRISPR-Cas9 system was established. In the future, it is predicted that CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing methods will be used in the elucidation and treatment of many diseases, especially cancer treatment.

In addition, the production of normal (wild-type) and mutant recombinant proteins by conventional recombinant protein production methods also enables a rational background for revealing the disease mechanisms and drug candidate molecules that can be developed against these diseases.

In addition to these, the source of biological fluid and tissue samples (blood, saliva, seminal fluid, menstruation blood, etc.), differentiation of identical twins, biological sample (blood, saliva, seminal fluid, etc.) there is an increasing need for DNA methylation kits, they can be used to determine the age of the person they belong to.

Today, the term epigenetics is used precisely to describe gene expression changes that are inherited without being linked to the DNA sequence of the organism. To date, it is known that epigenetic changes play important roles in critical vital issues such as normal development and differentiation of cells. Examples of these are X chromosome activation seen in female mammals and silencing of mating-type locus in yeast. However, Epigenetic changes remain open to life-long interaction, thus being affected by environmental factors and the aging process. Therefore, there is increasing scientific evidence that the mechanisms of cancer and other diseases can be associated with changes in epigenetic mechanisms. Within this scientific background, the research of Epigenetic mechanisms using transgenic cell technologies and the development of drug candidate molecules based on these defined mechanisms will contribute to the position of our country in the world in this field and will be a tool for national drug development. For this reason, the establishment of T.R. ÜSKÜDAR TRANSGENIC CELL TECHNOLOGIES AND EPIGENETICS APPLICATION AND RESEARCH CENTER is also planned to contribute to our country's Epigenetic-based national drug development efforts.
