What Is the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Student Laboratory? / What Is Its Purpose?

Üsküdar University’s Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Student Laboratory is a modern academic practice center where undergraduate Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation students develop their manual skills, kinesiology assessment abilities, and treatment planning competencies during the pre-clinical period.

  • Primary Purpose: To enable students to transform their theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and kinesiology into practical competence by integrating it with patient-specific clinical assessment, manual therapy approaches, and therapeutic exercise prescription processes.
  • Academic Contribution: The laboratory allows students to directly experience evidence-based physiotherapy approaches. It maximizes their ability to analyze the mechanical foundations of movement disorders, perform appropriate muscle and joint tests, and develop patient-centered rehabilitation programs.

Equipment and Technical Infrastructure Available in the Laboratory

The laboratory infrastructure includes the instrumental assessment tools, electrotherapy modalities, and mechanotherapy equipment that physiotherapists use throughout their professional careers. The laboratory’s key technical equipment includes:

  • Advanced Electrotherapy Combination Devices: Multifunctional clinical units that provide electro-neuromuscular stimulation through TENS, interferential currents, diadynamic currents, and Russian currents, and are used in the treatment of pain, edema, and muscle weakness.
