Üsküdar Communication students returned with awards again… In the 31st Young Communicators Competition, organized this year by the Turkish Journalists' Association and the Aydın Doğan Foundation, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Communication students won awards in 4 categories.
The students who achieved success in the 31st Turkish Journalists' Association Aydın Doğan Young Communicators Competition, organized to contribute to the training of contemporary and qualified journalists and media managers, were announced at a digital ceremony held on the evening of Tuesday, March 16. In the competition, where Faculty of Communication students participated with their projects in written, visual, audio, and internet publishing categories, the selection committees deemed a total of 45 projects from 53 students across 17 universities worthy of awards.
First Place for the "News from the Sun" Project
According to the announced results, seven students from Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Communication won awards in four different categories. Nilay Soysev, Rozerin Özbay, Ceyda Er, and Zeynep Şahin won the first prize in the "website" category with their "Güneşten Haber Var" (News from the Sun) project, which they implemented to realize the dreams and meet the needs of students attending schools in disadvantaged regions.

Second Place in Blog, Interview, and Internet Media Site Categories
Emre Sertdemir won the second prize in the "blog" category with his work titled "Emre Sertdemir's Blog," while Merve Şişman came second in the "interview" category with her news report titled "Live Witness of the Terrorist Attack: Ahmet Bulut." The second prize in the "internet media site" category went to Dilber Dural for her website "Futboliçe," which she established to bring women's football to a wider audience.
Works Competed in Four Main Categories and 14 Sub-Categories
Students who participated in the competition with their works from the 2019-2020 academic year competed in four main categories: "written," "visual," "audio," and "internet publishing." Under the "written" main category were 'news-news research,' 'interview,' 'layout,' 'photography,' and 'sports'; under the "visual" main category were 'television news,' 'documentary,' and 'short film'; under the "audio" main category were 'radio news anchoring' and 'radio programming'; and under the "internet publishing" main category were 'website,' 'blog,' 'social media project,' and 'internet media site,' making a total of 14 sub-categories.

Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör: "Appreciation of Success is Very Valuable"
While award sculptures, cash prizes, and gift vouchers were presented to the students who achieved success in the competition categories, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör made the following remarks: "The recognition and support for our students' achievements are very valuable to us. I thank everyone very much. I would like to extend my thanks to our professors who supported our students' projects, Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, Dr. Nihal Toros, our research assistants Atila Erdemir and Selin Maden, and through them, to all the faculty members and Üsküdar academic staff for their efforts and dedication."
