Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine achieved a nationally remarkable success with the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) performance of its first graduates at the end of the 2024–2025 academic year. The faculty, with the results obtained in its very first graduating year, presented a picture above the Türkiye average.

Above-average success in TUS in the first year
In the 2024–2025 academic year, the faculty graduated a total of 110 students. As a result of the 2025 TUS 2nd Term exam, 25 graduates were placed in specialization programs. The average score of the placed students was calculated as 56.8. Considering the TUS average, which has been in the 45–50 range in Türkiye in recent years, it was observed that the faculty's first graduating group performed significantly above the national average.
In the score distribution, the highest score was 74, and the lowest score was 46; the median was determined as 56. While 80% of the graduates scored 50 and above, 32% were in the 60 and above score band. The most concentrated score range was the 55–59 band, with 36%. The standard deviation of approximately 7.3 indicated that the distribution of success was balanced and stable.

Balanced profile in branch distribution
The branch distribution of the 25 placed graduates showed that the faculty demonstrated a balanced profile in both surgical and internal medicine fields.
40% of the placements were in surgical branches, and 60% were in internal medicine branches.
The highest placement rate, at 28%, occurred in the field of Child Health and Diseases (Pediatrics). Obstetrics and Gynecology stood out as the strongest surgical branch with 16%, while Orthopedics and Traumatology also attracted attention with 12%.
Additionally, placements occurred in fields such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Chest Diseases, Emergency Medicine, and Cardiology. This table revealed that graduates did not only gravitate towards a single area; they demonstrated success across a wide range of competitive and fundamental clinical branches.

Specialization training in high-capacity hospitals
When examining the types of institutions where graduates were placed, it was observed that 72% were placed in Training and Research Hospitals and City Hospitals. 16% were placed in university hospitals, 4% in state hospitals, and 8% in primary care family medicine positions.
Among the placed institutions were high-service and education capacity institutions such as Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital, Prof. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital, Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital, İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Karadeniz Technical University, and Gülhane Training and Research Hospital.
These data indicate that the quality of education at the faculty is sustainably strengthening and that the quality assurance system is operating effectively.

Above Türkiye average, emphasis on sustainable success
According to the general assessment, the 2024–2025 TUS data show that the faculty achieved an above-Türkiye-average and balanced success profile even in its first graduating group.
An 80% rate of scores 50 and above, and a 32% rate in the 60 and above success band; demonstrates both the presence of high-performing students and the stability of the general academic level.
With the involvement of our graduates preparing for the exam in the coming periods, the specialization placement rate is expected to increase even further.
