An event titled “Trends in 3D Modeling” was organized by the Visual Communication Design Department of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Communication. Innovations, current applications, and design processes in the world of 3D modeling were discussed at the event, which featured Zehra Betül Yıldız, a graduate of Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Cartoon and Animation Department and a Freelance 3D Designer, as a speaker.
The event, held in the Fuat Sezgin conference hall at the South Campus, was moderated by Prof. Dr. And Algül, Head of the Visual Communication Design Department.
“These markets are open to international trade”
Freelance 3D Designer Zehra Betül Yıldız, outlining the technical features and application areas of recently prominent 3D modeling tools, stated: “When you are a 3D designer, there is also a market for it. You might be working for a regular production or game company, but if you're not, if you're a freelancer, you can put these 3D objects and designs you've created up for sale on certain platforms. These markets are open to international trade. We generally use 3D models in educational and art projects as well, so there are opportunities in the sector related to this.”
“The more diverse work you produce, the wider your network becomes”
Yıldız, discussing methods for freelance designers to find clients, as well as platforms supporting independent work and opportunities in this field, said: “It's not just about working freelance. Workload is tied to the work you produce. The more diverse work you produce, the wider your network becomes. As your business network expands, naturally, you get more work.”
3D modeling trends were discussed
Zehra Yıldız made evaluations about the fundamental steps followed in 3D modeling processes and the planning and implementation of the process from the modeling stage to the completion of the design. Yıldız stated: “When preparing three-dimensional works, you need to prepare them as they would appear in reality. A T-shirt should not be stuck to a body. If a shirt button is normally separate, it should be modeled separately in the same way. Hair is also included in this. That is, if it's in pieces, it needs to be modeled piece by piece to show that texture. When you first start the modeling process, you first create the main outline of the character. The character just has a body. Then you go through the clothes, hair, and any details you want on the body one by one.”
Innovations in the world of modeling were discussed
At the event where innovations, current applications, and design processes in the world of modeling were discussed, Yıldız said: “If I were to describe the modeling process: First, we create a concept. We generate reference visuals. After the concept is formed, we draw inspiration from these visuals to start modeling. Subsequently, we use an application.”
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to ask Zehra Betül Yıldız questions. Additionally, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Yıldız at the end of the program.
