A visit was made to Semiha Şakir Children's Homes Site by the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) Social Services Program and the Break the Silence Club. During the visit, conducted alongside Social Services Program Head and Club Advisor Dr. Lecturer Melek Çaylak, students had the opportunity for a highly meaningful and educational experience, both from a professional perspective and in terms of human sensitivity.

The visit aimed to equip future social service professionals not only with academic knowledge but also with a sense of social responsibility.

Dr. Lecturer Melek Çaylak: “We will leave very valuable works for our future”
Dr. Lecturer Melek Çaylak made evaluations about the visit. Çaylak said, “The loving gazes and sincere smiles we encountered at Semiha Şakir Children's Homes Site once again showed us how valuable our work in this field is. I hope this visit will be an inspiring example for both our students and all professionals in the field; I want to state that we will continue to work with all our might for a world where all children grow up with love, trust, and hope. With new projects, we will do very beneficial work for our children and leave very valuable works for our future.”

A humanitarian duty performed with conscience…
The visit aimed to observe the living conditions of children under state protection firsthand, witness their social development processes, and understand their needs more closely. Each child's individual story, resilience, and need for love once again highlighted the responsibility of the social services profession.
During meetings with officials at Semiha Şakir Children's Homes Site, in-depth information exchange took place regarding the psycho-social support processes, educational lives, and social adaptation of children under protection. At the same time, productive evaluations were made regarding the challenges faced by the institution and proposed solutions.
During the visit, it was also emphasized that touching a child's life means leaving hope for the future, and that social service is not merely a profession, but a humanitarian duty performed with conscience.

Social service, the art of integrating a child into society…
Within the scope of the visit, it was also demonstrated that social service is not merely a service provision, but the art of keeping a person alive, nurturing them, and integrating them into society. Being a guest in the world of children, even for a brief moment, listening to them, trying to understand them, and receiving a sincere smile in return was an unforgettable experience for the students.
