Prof. Dr. Zelka and Prof. Dr. Süleymanlı Attended the Blue Black Sea Congress

Üsküdar Üniversitesi acting rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka was present at the opening ceremony, The 7th International Blue Black Sea Congress was held, organized in collaboration with the Black Sea Strategic Research Center and Marmara University to increase and develop cooperation among countries bordering the Black Sea, the Caucasus, and the Balkans. Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, Head of the Sociology Department at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, also delivered a presentation titled “Socio-Political Dynamics of Migration Movements in the Black Sea Region” at the congress. 

At the international congress, where Vice President Fuat Oktay delivered the opening speech and 60 speakers from 15 countries presented papers, presentations were made by academics, politicians, and researchers on topics such as human security, migration, ecopolitics, energy security, and diplomacy.

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Sociology Department Head Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı also delivered his presentation titled “Socio-Political Dynamics of Migration Movements in the Black Sea Region” at the congress.

In his presentation, Süleymanlı addressed the migration movements occurring in Turkey and Russia, two important countries bordering the Black Sea, and the socio-economic effects of this mobility on society.

Considering Turkey and Russia as important actors in the migration system shaped by local, regional, and international events in a broad geographical area connected with Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, stemming from geopolitical and historical factors, he emphasized the necessity of formulating sustainable migration policies in line with sustainable development goals within the framework of human rights.
