Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Psychology Lecturer Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan gave a conference titled “Goal Setting and Motivation in Distance Education” in a program organized for 9th-grade students of Saint Benoit French High School. In the online program, Canan made evaluations on the importance of dreaming, success, and happiness for students, and used the expressions, “Happiness is being content with yourself, with your existence.”

“We must dream of tomorrow”
Students showed great interest in the conference of Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan, Lecturer at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Psychology.
Speaking about the importance of dreaming to students, Canan said, “There is a state of stagnation and waiting for a miracle from the sky in life. We must dream and build tomorrow, otherwise, we will live the dreams built by others. It is necessary to dream for the future. Naming a profession is not dreaming. Providing information to students on social media and digitalization, Prof. Dr. Sinan Canan used the expressions, “Make good use of digital opportunities; the brain learns a language if it uses it. Speaking English is very important. It is necessary to activate the brain's speech circuit. We learned our native language because people around us constantly spoke it. We should speak by making mistakes and at every opportunity.”
“If you can say ‘I'm glad I'm me,’ you are happy”
Canan also touched upon the harms of phone usage, stating that we unconsciously started losing many of our talents. Canan said, “With video games and computers, we became inactive and isolated from socializing. We must create new activities for ourselves. Find a movement and a hobby you love. Live life with passion. Happiness is being content with yourself, with your existence. If you can say ‘I'm glad I'm me,’ you are happy. Whenever you complain about yourself, you become unhappy. To avoid complaining, others’
