Uskudar University Faculty of Health Sciences Head of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot stated at the conference titled “Speech and Language Disorders in Educational Settings” that speech is an expression and an action.

Konrot, who attended the conference organized by Nizip Abdülkadir Sayın Guidance and Research Center, made evaluations under the title “Speech and Language Disorders in Educational Settings.”

Stating that a person can have many purposes when communicating, such as sharing information, emotions, and persuading, Konrot said: “The general scope in Speech and Language Therapy consists of communication, language, speech, voice, and swallowing. From the moment a human being comes into the world, they are in interaction with their environment, and this interaction transforms them into an individual.”

Emphasizing that it is not easy to define language, Konrot stated: “However, a definition can be made by explaining the characteristics of language. We divide language into verbal and non-verbal language. Speech is an expression and an action.”
