Minister Yılmaz Tunç Met with Üsküdar Residents
At the event held in the Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall of the Southern Campus, Tunç gave important messages to young people through his own life story, and made evaluations on justice, career planning, and social consensus.
Academics and students showed great interest in the event.
“The goal is to do our best where we are”
Answering a question about his career journey, Tunç drew attention to the importance of process-oriented work instead of a goal-oriented approach. Tunç said: “While going through these stages, I didn't think 'how can I reach the next level?' but rather how I can do my current duty in the best way possible. The goal is to do our best where we are. The next stage after that best will come naturally.”
“One should not fall into despair”
Tunç, who also shared the difficulties he faced in his educational life, said: “One should not fall into despair. There may be those who push young people into pessimism, those who say 'you won't amount to anything.' Definitely do not heed them. What you need to do right now is to finish your current department in the best possible way.”
“We cannot get anywhere without knowledge”
Emphasizing that success is not limited to academic education alone, Tunç pointed out the importance of versatile development. Tunç said: “Just studying is not enough; one needs to read and develop oneself in different fields. One should benefit from technology but not be enslaved by it. We cannot get anywhere without knowledge.”
“Small disputes can be resolved without going to court”
During the interview, Tunç also made evaluations regarding the justice system and stated that the culture of social consensus should be strengthened. Tunç said: “Resolving everything in court both increases the workload and complicates processes. Methods like mediation serve both social peace and ensure faster resolution of disputes.”
Established one-on-one communication with young people
Throughout the program, Tunç engaged in an interactive dialogue with students, inspiring young people by sharing excerpts from his own life story. Tunç, who recounted his career path from his education in a village to law school, from lawyer to politician, emphasized the importance of perseverance, patience, and hard work.
The highly anticipated interview concluded after students' questions were answered.
