The 'Fetoscope Delivery and Apron Wearing Ceremony' organized by the Midwifery Department of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences was held with great enthusiasm. The program, where final year students presented their scientific projects covering a wide range of topics from HPV infection to perceptions of obstetric violence, reproductive autonomy in multiple sclerosis, and fear of childbirth, attracted great interest. While prospective graduates were sent off into the profession with the traditional fetoscope delivery, first-year students also experienced the excitement of stepping into the midwifery profession by wearing their first white aprons.

Many academics, students, and parents, especially Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, attended the ceremony held at the Ibn Sina Auditorium of NP Sağlık Campus.

Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin: “I believe it is one of the greatest miracles in the world”

Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, made the opening speech of the program; “I believe it is one of the greatest miracles in the world. To witness the development and growth of a human baby from a tiny cellular structure, from droplets, and then to be instrumental in their birth, is truly one of the most beautiful, fulfilling, and enjoyable aspects of this profession. I wish you will do very successful and beautiful things in your work. Not just a midwifery duty, you will actually be very important healthcare professionals for society, trusted by people to share their troubles and intimate matters. Therefore, knowing its value and importance, acting accordingly, and transferring your own experiences to the next generation will be extremely valuable data. You not only received an education but also produced very valuable and precious works and projects. In this respect, you are in a very fortunate department. All your instructors both encourage and lead you in this regard. I especially thank my instructors very much for these efforts. Because many institutions do not have these features. Almost all of you are developing a study, a project. I believe that in the future, these will be much more developed and beautiful.” he said.

Women's health and social dynamics were discussed

In the first part of the program, final year students came to the podium in groups and shared their scientific studies. In this context;

while Sıla Erol and Zülal Okur presented their projects titled “Examination of Women's Definitions of Obstetric Violence and Perceptions of Obstetric Violence in Childbirth”.

After the completion of the projects, the program continued with the presentation of “The History of the Fetoscope”, shedding light on the past and present of the midwifery profession.

The Midwifery Oath was recited in unison…

Emotional moments were experienced in the hall before the traditional fetoscope delivery. Prospective graduate students, led by Asst. After the oath was recited, the most exciting part of the program, the “Fetoscope Delivery and Apron Wearing Ceremony,” began. Within the scope of the ceremony, fourth-year students, who were first invited to the stage in graduation project groups, received their fetoscopes, the symbol of the profession, from the department's faculty members.

Then, first-year students were called to the stage in groups and put on their first white aprons, presented by the academics.

Midwifery choir received great applause from the audience

After the ceremony, the Midwifery Department Choir Group took the stage and provided delightful and enthusiastic moments for the guests in the hall with their musical performance.
