Journalist Kemal Öztürk at Üsküdar Communications...

Üsküdar University continues to grow with its students and academic staff, adding experienced names in its field to its team. Journalist Kemal Öztürk, who has carried out important works in agency journalism in Turkey, has started giving lectures to students of Üsküdar University's Faculty of Communication.

Kemal Öztürk, former General Manager of Anadolu Agency and current Haber Türk columnist, will give lectures to Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication students in the 2020-2021 academic year. Kemal Öztürk, who has numerous articles and books on political communication, recent history, urban communication, political history, and communication, met with students in the “Agency Journalism” course.

Who is Kemal Öztürk?

Kemal Öztürk was born in Ağrı in 1969. He completed his secondary education in Sakarya. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Communication, Department of Journalism.

In 1995, he stepped into journalism at Yeni Şafak Newspaper. In 1997, he started television journalism at Kanal 7 television. In addition to journalism, Öztürk began producing documentaries, with “Sarıkamış” being his first. He directed the first documentary on the life of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Subsequently, he created numerous documentaries on topics such as “İlk Meclis” (First Parliament), “Yemen,” “1999 Earthquake,” the history of the women's movement in Turkey and Halide Edip, Ottoman Modernization, and Pera.

In 1999, he was awarded the best documentary of the year by the Turkish Authors' Association. In the same year, he went to America and Canada to receive foreign language education and conducted research in the field of documentaries.

In 2003, he became the Communication Advisor to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Two years later, he was appointed Chief Advisor to the Speaker of the TBMM. In 2008, he served as an advisor to AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In 2009, he was appointed Press Advisor to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He coordinated Prime Minister Erdoğan's relations with the press for two years.

On August 3, 2011, he was appointed Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Anadolu Agency. On December 1, 2014, he announced his resignation from his position as AA Chairman of the Board and General Manager, which he held for 3 years and 4 months, due to “personal principles and values.” Later, Öztürk worked as a columnist, commenting on current affairs on television channels and his YouTube channel. In his book “Ortak Bir Hayal Kurmak” (Building a Common Dream), which was released in September 2020, he narrated his time at AA. Öztürk has five books on various subjects and numerous documentaries aired on local and international channels.

Öztürk, who has a good command of English, is married and has three children.
