Lecturer Birgül Erbaş, Head of the Hair Care and Beauty Services Program at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services, has undertaken an important study in the international academic field.

Examined the sociological dimensions of beauty perception

In the study titled “Evaluation of Sociological Criteria Affecting Beauty Perception with Pythagorean Fuzzy AHP Method,” Lecturer Birgül Erbaş comprehensively analyzed the factors shaping individuals' beauty perception.

The research revealed that media and popular culture are the strongest determinants of this perception, while cultural norms and gender roles also stood out as prominent factors. It was also found that family pressure and educational level had a relatively more limited effect.

Media and Popular Culture in the Forefront

The findings revealed that aesthetic understanding in modern societies is increasingly shaped by media, technology, and global culture.
In this respect, the study proved to be a guiding light not only for the academic field but also for the beauty and care sector.

Contains Many Important Implications

The study, contributing to academic literature, also contains significant implications for service design, customer expectation management, and the development of training programs in the beauty and care sector.
