The Design Club, affiliated with Üsküdar University’s Department of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS), organized a talk with Visual Designer Yusuf Enes Merter. In the event, Merter, who stands out with his work in the field of visual design, gave career advice to students who are just beginning their design journeys.

The talk, held at Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication’s Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall, was attended by Visual Designer Yusuf Enes Merter and Communication Faculty students.

During the event, Merter shared insights about his personal development process, his experiences in design, and ways to make a difference in the industry.

“Creating your own signature comes from your determination”

Emphasizing the importance of self-improvement beyond university education, Merter offered valuable advice to students. Merter said: “I did not really plan to get into music design; it just happened along the way.Getting involved in design happened as I discovered myself. Since the age of 12, I have enjoyed tinkering with programs and creating things. Instead of playing games, I turned toward exploring software, and when I combined this interest with music, I found my own path. I did not rely too much on university; I chose an independent route outside of it, and that contributed greatly to me. The university experience helps, but what really defines your signature is the drive and dedication you show outside of it. The biggest advice I can give you is not to limit yourself to just those four years. Develop yourself extensively outside as well.”

“Do not be afraid of making mistakes”

Highlighting the importance of originality in design, Merter addressed young designers by saying, “Find your own style, create your signature. Do not be afraid to experiment or make mistakes, because every mistake makes you more mature.”

The event continued with a Q&A session where Merter answered students’ questions.
Afterward, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Yusuf Enes Merter, and the event concluded with a group photo.
