Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Department of Sociology, Sociology Club, and Kalben Association held a seminar titled “Foster Family and Society”. In the seminar, attended by Pelin Çalışkanoğlu Ekşi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Kalben Association, Ekşi stated that it is very important for children to experience being a family through emotional bonds, without blood ties.

In the seminar held at Üsküdar University South Campus, moderated by Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, Head of Üsküdar University Department of Sociology, Pelin Çalışkanoğlu Ekşi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Kalben Association, made important evaluations regarding foster families and society. Çalışkanoğlu, who shared her own life story and memories regarding the foster family practice, provided information on the foster family service model in our country. Ekşi shared concrete data regarding Kalben Association's activities aimed at promoting the concept of “foster family”, encouraging families in this regard, and bringing children under protection and care together with a safe family environment.
Ekşi also stated that “experiencing being a family through emotional bonds, without blood ties” is very important for children.
Ebulfez Süleymanlı: “We have close cooperation with Kalben Association.”
Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı reminded that there is close cooperation between Kalben Association and Üsküdar University Department of Sociology, stating that Üsküdar University students both do volunteer internships in the association's activities and later, graduates continue their active working life at the association. Süleymanlı expressed that the University will continue to support the work of Kalben Association in this regard.
Many participants from different universities and NGOs attended the seminar, which was simultaneously broadcast on the Zoom platform.
