Students from the Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS), Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program carried out an important technical field trip with a focus on environmental awareness and sustainability. Accompanied by Program Head Asst. Prof. Tuğba Kaman, the students visited the İSTAÇ Compost Recovery Facility and the Biomethanization Facility. During the visit, students had the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge about the environmentally friendly recovery of organic waste, compost production processes, and biomethanization technologies.

As part of the visit organized at İSTAÇ, students were able to observe theoretical knowledge directly in real world applications.
Emphasis on circular economy and sustainable agriculture
Within the scope of the technical visit, the role of plant based waste in the circular economy, sustainable agricultural practices, and renewable energy production processes were addressed. Experts provided information on current practices aimed at efficient use of natural resources and reducing environmental impacts.
Organic waste examined through eco friendly methods
Students also received on site information from officials about the environmentally friendly recovery of organic and plant based waste, compost production stages, and biomethanization technologies. The processes ranging from waste separation to energy and fertilizer production were explained in detail.
Enhanced professional awareness and environmental consciousness
For students receiving education in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants, topics such as the life cycle of plant based raw materials, waste management, and environmental sustainability created significant professional awareness.
Thanks to the technical field trip, students also developed their professional perspectives on environmental awareness, sustainable production, and green transformation.
