The “Dealing with Challenging Behavior in the Classroom” event was organized by the English Translation and Interpreting Department of Üsküdar University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Asst. Prof. Dr. Andrea Peterlicean from the Department of Applied Modern Foreign Languages at Sapientia University of Romania participated in the event.
The event took place in the Socrates Hall of Üsküdar University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The moderation of the program was undertaken by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Feride Zeynep Güder, a faculty member of the English Translation and Interpreting Department at Üsküdar University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In her opening speech for the event, Güder emphasized the importance of such gatherings for ensuring sustainable success in education.

During the event, solutions were presented on how to manage challenging behaviors encountered in educational settings. Asst. Prof. Dr. Andrea Peterlicean from the Department of Applied Modern Foreign Languages at Sapientia University of Romania shared her knowledge and experiences on the subject with the participants.
The ‘3R’ Model for Dealing with Challenging Behaviors in the Classroom
Stating that challenging behaviors often emerge as a way for individuals to express their unmet needs, Dr. Peterlicean emphasized that empathy and understanding play a key role in such situations. Furthermore, introducing the ‘3R’ model (Regulate, Relate, Reason) for dealing with challenging behaviors in the classroom, Peterlicean stated that within this model, teachers should first ensure their own emotional regulation, then establish relationships with students, and finally develop logical solutions.
