Asst. Prof. Nebiye Yaşar: “If we cannot change the flow, we will change our perspective”
Asst. Prof. Nebiye Yaşar, Üsküdar University Social Contribution Coordinator and Director of the Young Brains Academy, spoke about coping skills with difficult people, self-awareness, and effective communication strategies. Yaşar, stating that creating awareness by knowing oneself is the key point, said: “There is no wrong door, there is the right key. We will find the right key within ourselves. So, how much are we in communication with ourselves? How much do we know ourselves and how aware are we of ourselves? Does noteverything start with us? Does not it start with our perspective? Getting to know the person opposite us actually comes from knowing ourselves. We begin to learn how many limits we have, how much patience and tolerance we have by knowing ourselves. We are the most suitable person to manage the relationship and communication. It starts with us and ends with us. It progresses with our reactions. It is us who will change the perspective of the other person. If we cannot change the flow, we will change our perspective.”

Theoretical knowledge reinforced with practice-based applications
In the training, participants first shared their perspectives on the characteristics of difficult people, why these individuals are difficult, and their proximity to themselves by writing them on papers, moderated by Education Coordinator Nihal Ercan and Asst. Prof. Nebiye Yaşar.
Subsequently, participants were divided into groups and performed role-plays by writing original case analyses and scenarios based on the collected real data.

Management strategies to be applied were discussed
In the training program organized for healthcare professionals, management strategies to be applied when encountering challenging characters were demonstrated by combining theoretical knowledge and practical group work.
The training concluded with participants taking a group photo.
