An event titled “Can you become an entrepreneur with 200 TL?” was organized under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Münire Berna Beşkese from the Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. At the event, where the entrepreneurship stories of 1st-year Industrial Engineering students were shared, students presented their developed projects.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Münire Berna Beşkese: “Among students, collaboration skill was the most impactful skill”
Delivering the opening speech, Asst. Prof. Dr. Münire Berna Beşkese said; “We are reaping the harvest of a long journey. As the Industrial Engineering Department of Üsküdar University, we are a new department. We started this adventure three years ago with our teammates. As a result of this adventure, we will present the projects our students have created. In the Introduction to Industrial Engineering course, we prepared a program where students would try to acquire skills such as inter-group communication, leadership skills, and problem-solving. According to the skill development results, collaboration skill among students was the most impactful skill.”
Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci: “We need to present this work as an exemplary study to all our departments”
Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, stated that instilling this dynamism in 1st-year Industrial Engineering students is an achievement; “All our departments have 1st-year introductory courses, but I am witnessing for the first time that such a course is followed in such an exciting and lively manner. We need to present this work as an exemplary study to all our departments,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Savsa: “Industrial Engineering means seeing and solving problems”
Head of Industrial Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Mehmet Savsar pointed out that Industrial Engineering is a branch of engineering that requires more entrepreneurship than others. Savsar stated; “Industrial Engineering means seeing and solving problems. When you go somewhere, the first thing you will do is to see and solve the problem there.”
Following the project presentations, student groups thanked their instructors and expressed their happiness for having such an experience.
