Üsküdar Üniversitesi and Torbalı Municipality jointly organized the “Distance Education Talks: New Professions and Career Opportunities in a Changing World” program. The guest of the program was Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan.

The Changing World is a Phrase We Have Been Using for Many Years
Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, touching upon the changing world: “The changing world is a phrase we have been using for many years. The world we live in describes a brand new civilization order to us. The essence of what we call civilization stems from changes in production relations. That is, whether you are dealing with land, machinery, using energy, whether you are in a digital environment, or a cyber environment, each of these and the things produced there actually show how our lives will be shaped. Twenty years ago, it was not possible to talk about being a social media expert or social media engineering to anyone. Today, all companies are forced to employ social media specialists.” she said.
The Disciplines We Teach Are Remnants from the Industrial Society
Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan spoke about the new education system and universities' work in new fields. Arıboğan: “In most universities, globally, the disciplines we teach are remnants from the industrial society. We have only recently been able to open new fields like artificial intelligence. Because there are certain standards. When you open artificial intelligence engineering, there must be people who have received their associate professorship and professorship in artificial intelligence.” she said.
I Believe Income Inequality Will Be Largely Balanced
Arıboğan, speaking about future working principles: “In the post-pandemic world, where the income levels produced by liberal capitalism have led to one group of people being extremely rich and another group being extremely poor, I believe this income inequality will be largely balanced. In fact, a project is underway that could provide income to people regardless of whether they work or not. Because people earn income by working. They say, if robots are going to work, what will we do? Therefore, to ensure economic balance, certain incomes need to be transferred to people, but this income will probably not be transferred through production.” she said.
