4th Gold Medal for Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Science and Practice Partner NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital

Üsküdar Üniversitesi's science and practice partner NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital underwent an audit in March by JCI (Joint Commission International), the world's largest and most prestigious healthcare accreditor, and was found successful for the fourth time.

JCI (Joint Commission International), the world's most prestigious and largest healthcare accreditor, audited Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Science and Practice Partner NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital for the fourth time. NPİSTANBUL, which continues its commitment to providing patient-focused, high-quality healthcare service, successfully passed its fourth audit as the first hospital to be audited with new standards in 2021.

NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital first received JCI accreditation on January 20, 2012. With its success in 2015, NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital was designated as “Turkey's first accredited neuropsychiatry hospital”, and with its accreditation success in 2018, it earned the title of “The World's First Accredited Brain Hospital”

During the JCI audit held in March, the team's lead auditor stated that NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital had a successful audit process, saying, “The dedication of your employees to the institution, the diligence and knowledge of your quality team, the cleanliness of your institution, your effective use of technology, and most importantly, the management support required to implement these will be the concepts that remain in my memory when NP is mentioned.”

“YOU ARE A BEACON OF HOPE FOR PATIENTS”

The JCI Team Leader thanked the management of NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital, saying, “Thanks to the chairman and members of the board of directors, and all senior executives of the hospital for their efforts and support for this audit. We could sincerely feel what the mission of NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital is. Psychiatric patients are a group that requires special attention. For this patient group, you are a beacon of hope. Your dedication to quality is reflected in the attitude of your employees, and their passion for their work.”

“IT IS A PRIVILEGE FOR US TO BE BY YOUR SIDE”

Emphasizing that the professionalism shown by the hospital team and employees during the four-day audits was at the highest level, the team leader said:
“You represented your institution in the best possible way. During this time, you also represented your country very well. It was a privilege for us to be by your side on NPİSTANBUL’s journey. Over the past four days, we observed different aspects of your institution. We conducted our review in light of JCI (Joint Commission International) standards. We also had the opportunity to learn many great things from you. Our purpose in being here was to audit you for compliance with JCI standards.”

“I WOULD ADMIT MY FAMILY TO YOUR HOSPITAL WITH PEACE OF MIND”

Emphasizing the importance of trust in the hospital, the team leader said, “Every time I ask myself this question: If such a need arose for myself, for my family, for my own children or parents, would I be able to admit them to this hospital with peace of mind? Yes. This is the strongest form of accreditation. The patient-centric approach in your vision and mission is a driving force for an organization. We can feel this driving force in you. This is a long journey, and you have come a long way. We have full confidence that you will cover much longer distances on this journey.”

PROF. DR. NEVZAT TARHAN: “WE ATTACH GREAT IMPORTANCE TO BEING HONEST AND ACCOUNTABLE”

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Chairman of the Board of NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital, also thanked the JCI team leader, stating that his kind words motivated them. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan continued his speech as follows:

“It was also four wonderful days for us. We learned a lot. We also took many excellent notes for the future. These audits conducted every three years contribute a great deal to us. We observed this in this audit as well. We ask ourselves these questions, and while asking them, we need an independent auditor: 'Are we making decisions based on data? Are we managing performance adequately? Can we set measurable goals?' We expect someone to observe us and report on all of these. Our feedback on these matters will greatly contribute to us in this quality journey, this patient safety journey, to improve ourselves. We thank you again for this. We attach great importance to being open, honest, and accountable. Hearing from you that we have been able to reflect this, especially to our team, made me very happy.”
