In the 'Manifesto of Islamic Civilization in the Light of Prophetic Heritage,' published at the end of the 3rd International Ahl al-Bayt Symposium held at Üsküdar University, it was emphasized that the solution to the moral, social, and environmental crises humanity faces lies in a civilization concept based on mercy, justice, compassion, and the consciousness of trust.
From the Manifesto: 'The treatment for the social and psychological decay that haunts humanity like a nightmare in our era, and for the social media, artificial intelligence, and extreme substance addictions that torment families, especially children and young generations, will only be possible with a will and faith strengthened by bonds of compassion and love.  The 3rd  Ahl al-Bayt Symposium is an awakening manifesto that calls humanity to build a civilization centered on mercy and to embrace Islamic morality.'

The '3rd Ahl al-Bayt Symposium' themed 'Islamic Civilization in the Light of Prophetic Heritage,' hosted by Üsküdar University in memory of the 1500th year of the Prophetic Mawlid of the Messenger of Allah, Mercy to the Worlds, was held on June 26-27, 2026, at the Ibn Sina Auditorium, NP Health Campus of Üsküdar University.

The symposium, held to offer solutions to the moral, social, and environmental crises humanity faces from the perspective of the Prophetic heritage, concluded with the publication of a comprehensive manifesto.

Humanity's distancing from divine truths deepened global problems

In the manifesto shared with the public under the title 'Manifesto of Islamic Civilization in the Light of Prophetic Heritage,' it was stated that wars, environmental disasters, societal disintegration, and spiritual emptiness in today's world are different reflections of a common crisis. The declaration drew attention to humanitarian tragedies from Gaza to Sudan, Ukraine to Myanmar and East Turkestan, stating that humanity's distancing from divine truths deepened global problems.

At a time when the world is facing a major moral crisis, the manifesto noted that the purpose of organizing the Ahl al-Bayt Symposium is an invitation for all humanity, especially Muslims, to remember the Prophetic heritage and reflect upon it, and continued as follows:

“It is a call to look at and understand the universe and society through the light and window of the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad bestowed upon humanity. It is to seek answers in the light of the Prophetic heritage to questions humanity has asked itself throughout history, such as ‘Who are you? Where do you come from? Where are you going? What is the meaning of your life?’ It is to academically examine the complementary scientific and spiritual guidance of the two fundamental trusts, the Holy Quran and Ahl al-Bayt, as indicated in Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) hadith ‘I am leaving two things for you…’; to present the contribution of this heritage to humanity's common values from an interdisciplinary perspective, and to share the accumulated knowledge with broad audiences outside academia.”

The importance of remembering the Prophetic heritage…

The manifesto stated that remembering the Prophetic heritage is an invitation to understand how this light, which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received in the Cave of Hira and announced to all humanity starting from his closest companions, completely changed this landscape, and noted the following:

“Thanks to the light of truth brought by Prophet Muhammad, all movements, diversities, changes, and transformations in the universe were saved from meaninglessness and from being toys of blind coincidences. Each became a letter describing Allah's power and wisdom, a sign showing the secrets of creation, a mirror reflecting Allah's names. Thus, the entire universe transformed into a grand and meaningful book showcasing Allah's wisdom. The same light also illuminated humanity's helplessness, which appears weaker, more needy, and more fragile than other living beings, and its mind, which carries sorrow, grief, and anxiety. With this enlightened mind, humanity rose above all living beings by making its helplessness and needs a means of turning to Allah. Humanity, valuing its helplessness through prayer and servitude, became a cherished sovereign; humanity, presenting its needs to its Lord, became a valuable trustee (caliph) of the earth. Moreover, it did not achieve this through coercion, oppression, or dominance. The places truly conquered were people's minds, hearts, souls, and spirits. He won people's love, guided their minds, educated their selves, and reigned over their souls.”

22-item roadmap

In the manifesto, written inspired by the Farewell Sermon and the papers presented at the symposium, a 22-item roadmap was presented under the headings 'existence and meaning,' 'mercy,' 'social transformation,' 'family,' 'youth,' 'artificial intelligence,' and 'a call to our age.'

In the first section of the manifesto, which addresses 'existence and meaning,' it was emphasized that prophethood is the fundamental guide in comprehending the meaning of humanity and the universe; it was also stated that science and technology can only serve the true benefit of humanity when they meet with the wisdom and moral principles revealed by divine revelation.

Under the heading 'Mercy,' it was stated that compassion is not merely an individual virtue but a foundational principle of civilization; it was also noted that the protection of animals, nature, and all living beings, in addition to humans, is an integral part of the Prophetic heritage. Environmental protection, sustainable living, and a sense of responsibility towards future generations were also shown among the core elements of this understanding.

In the section dedicated to social and moral transformation, it was emphasized that principles such as human dignity, the inviolability of life and property, the rejection of racial superiority, the protection of women's rights, economic justice, the consciousness of trust, and accountability form the foundation of a healthy society. It was stated that wealth is a trust, not an end, and that justice should be prioritized over exploitation.

The manifesto also extensively covered messages regarding family, youth, and technology

The manifesto also extensively covered messages regarding family, youth, and technology. While it was stated that the family is the cornerstone of society, it was emphasized that a family structure based on love, trust, and compassion must be preserved against the digital age's weakening of family ties. Young people were advised to strengthen their wills, stay away from digital addiction, and prioritize morality along with knowledge; attention was drawn to the importance of using artificial intelligence in service of humanity, but only within the bounds of moral principles, privacy, and conscience.
The manifesto emphasized that 'the civilization of mercy' is not a longing for the past but a universal vision of civilization that will build the future; it was stated that the solution to the moral, social, and environmental crises humanity faces will only be possible through an understanding rebuilt on the axis of mercy, justice, trust, and responsibility.

Solutions to humanity's crises should be sought in the Prophetic heritage

In the concluding section of the manifesto, it was once again emphasized that the 3rd International Ahl al-Bayt Symposium demonstrated that the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet provide the most powerful foundational principles for building a morality and civilization worthy of human dignity. It was stated that the Prophetic heritage is not merely a historical accumulation but contains universal principles that can offer solutions to the moral, social, and spiritual problems faced by contemporary humanity.

The manifesto pointed out that in the Holy Quran, Allah extends His mercy to all existence with the names 'ar-Rahman' and 'ar-Rahim,' and stated that Prophet Muhammad is the most beautiful example sent as 'a mercy to the worlds.' The declaration expressed that anyone sincerely adhering to the Quran and the Prophetic heritage can be a representative of this understanding of mercy, and by referencing Prophet Muhammad's hadith, 'I am leaving two things for you; as long as you adhere to them, you will attain salvation: the Book of Allah and my Ahl al-Bayt,' it drew attention to the central role of Ahl al-Bayt in preserving and perpetuating the Sunnah of the Prophet.

The solution to spiritual and social crises lies in mercy, justice, and tawhid

In the concluding section, another prominent point in the papers was highlighted: 'the sole solution to the spiritual and social crises into which the modern world has fallen is possible through a revival in the light of mercy, justice, and tawhid offered by the Prophetic heritage.'

The manifesto stated that the universal principles of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad are fundamental references that give meaning to human existence, positioning humanity as a responsible trustee and dignified caliph on Earth. It was noted that civilization concepts based solely on material progress are insufficient to solve the problems humanity faces. It was emphasized that true progress can only be achieved when science and technology are considered together with spiritual values, wisdom, and morality.

The symposium is an awakening manifesto calling to embrace Islamic morality!

The manifesto continued as follows:

“In our era, the treatment for the social and psychological decay that haunts humanity like a nightmare, and for the social media, artificial intelligence, and extreme substance addictions that torment families, especially children and young generations, will only be possible with a will and faith strengthened by bonds of compassion and love. The 3rd Ahl al-Bayt Symposium is an awakening manifesto that calls humanity to build a civilization centered on mercy and to embrace Islamic morality. To be the master of the world and the means of humanity's happiness is possible only by adhering to the Quran and the Prophetic heritage, which is its primary interpretation.

If the world is to be rebuilt on the foundations of ‘mercy, justice, equality, brotherhood,’ this reconstruction can only be based on divine mercy. Remembering Prophet Muhammad, sent as a mercy to the worlds, and his prophetic heritage, is the first step to rediscovering that foundation. The Prophetic heritage is not merely a closed page belonging to the golden age, only longed for today; it is the most perfect spirit that will build and revive the civilization of the future. The sun has risen, the final enlightenment is approaching; closing one's eyes now is merely to create darkness for oneself. It is time to awaken from centuries of slumber. To be enlightened by the light of the Quran and embrace true human civilization is not just a choice, but an existential necessity. If Muslims can demonstrate the beauties of Islamic morality by living them in every aspect of life, all consciences will once again become moths drawn to the sun of the Quran, just as in the golden age.”
