Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences held its 1st Academic Board meeting for the 2020-2021 academic year via Zoom with the participation of Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci.
During the meeting, information was provided about the general operational procedures to be implemented in the 2020-2021 academic year.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “The development of young people is very important”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that the current understanding of projects has changed compared to the past. Tarhan said, “Let's give students the mandatory theoretical courses. But now is the time for experiential learning. For this, let's frequently use laboratories and turn good ideas into projects. The old and current project procedures are also different. With the development of technology, new materials have emerged. Projects should now be agile and robust. We have started to activate the TTO (Technology Transfer Office). For this, we are hiring both patent and project specialists. The most supported area by TÜBİTAK is engineering. This is very important for the development of young people and their production of scientific output.”
Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci: “Necessary measures have been taken”
Emphasizing that they are ready for the 2020-2021 academic year and that their planning has been completed, Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci said; “We held meetings with all our departments and classes via Zoom. Our students were informed about the new academic year. We tried to answer their questions. During the current period, we will conduct classes in our classrooms within the framework of certain measures for the health of both our students and instructors, but if more students than we anticipate wish to attend classes in person, we will also have arrangements for that. Lectures and laboratory classes will be held in blocks.”
Additionally, during the meeting, evaluations were made regarding project-oriented delivery of social elective courses, R&D, projects, and publications.
