Their work in the field of 'Familial Mediterranean Fever' brought a Gold Medal
Students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Uskudar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences won the gold medal in the Rare Disease Challenge Rare Diseases Genetic Treatment Project Competition 2021, where 39 different teams competed to carry out genetic treatment and social awareness projects for three different target diseases.

A competition between Turkey and the universities that aims to build-up an infrastructure on 'Rare Diseases' by making the voices heard to the people who will hear them and build-up projects for different treatments from different minds.

5 students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of Uskudar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences came together in March and formed a team called 'Resesif16'. With months of work, the genetic treatment project and social awareness studies for the 'Familial Mediterranean Fever' hisease has been developed, which is seen often in Turkey, and the presentations have been made to the jury with live broadcast in October. In this way, they won the gold medal by reaching the final of the Rare Disease Challenge 2021.
The project team is working on the experimental stages of the project.
