Senior students of the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Üsküdar University experienced the pride of completing their educational journey. The students, who successfully presented their graduation projects, took their professional oaths in a ceremonial event. Prof. Güler Cimete, Head of the Department of Midwifery, emphasized the importance of research in the field of health.

The ceremony took place at the Ibn Sina Auditorium of the Üsküdar University NP Health Campus. Participants included Asst. Prof. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Prof. Güler Cimete, Head of the Department of Midwifery; Asst. Prof. Ayça Demir Yıldırım, Vice Chair of the Department; as well as academics, students, and guests.

Prof. Güler Cimete: “One of the most important roles of our profession is conducting research”

Prof. Güler Cimete, Head of the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Üsküdar University, delivered the opening speech. Highlighting the significance of research in the health sciences, she stated that in disciplines like midwifery, research plays a fundamental role in enhancing evidence-based practices and care quality.

Cimete said: “Each of you has carried out valuable work and made significant efforts. You have produced scientific knowledge and will contribute to the fields of health and midwifery. One of the most important roles of our profession is conducting research. From the first day you began your education, you have been learning this role. Applying research findings rapidly in practice will enable you to adapt to a changing society and to deliver midwifery services that meet public needs. Therefore, it is essential that scientific knowledge is both produced and implemented in the field in an up-to-date manner.”

Following the opening speeches, students presented their graduation projects. These noteworthy projects, prepared under the guidance of their academic advisors, included:

  • Neslihan Kesler, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Arzu Akdemir:

  • Naime Acar and Beyzanur Akalan, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Ayça Demir Yıldırım:
    “The Effect of Climate Change Anxiety Levels of Pregnant Women on Their State Anxiety, Environmental Attitudes, and Carbon Footprint”
  • Ebru Aktaş and Zeynep Erdoğan, under the supervision of Instructor Meryem Koçaslan Toran:

  • İrem Erkal and Sena Töreyir, under the supervision of Instructor Şerife Kelle:

Emotional moments with musical performance and oath ceremony

After the project presentations, a musical performance led by Asst. Prof. Ayça Demir Yıldırım offered an enjoyable moment for the participants.

In the final part of the event, the graduating students recited the Midwifery Oath together, symbolizing their professional responsibilities and ethical principles, under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Günay Arslan. The enthusiastic program concluded with a group photo session.
