The first mentorship meeting of the ‘one hundred new writers for the new century of our literature’ project was held
The project ‘One Hundred New Writers for the New Century of Our Literature,’ which aims to nurture young writers who will shape the future of Turkish literature, was launched with the support of the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations under the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with Üsküdar University’s academic consultancy and KASTOB & ÇATKON. Within this scope, the first meeting of young writers with their mentor teachers was held at the Project Implementation School of the İlim ve Fazilet Foundation. The meeting focused on key decisions such as selecting young writer candidates, structuring the academic and literary consultancy process, and planning the training sessions for the Writing Academy, with the ultimate goal of establishing a personalized guidance process.
Shortly after the opening program of the ‘One Hundred New Writers for the New Century of Our Literature’ Project, the first meeting between young writers and their mentor teachers took place.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Nebiye Yaşar, Director of Üsküdar University’s Young Minds Academy. Attendees included Mahmut Ekşi, Chairman of KASTOB High Advisory Board and İlim ve Fazilet Foundation, İshak Koçoğlu, Vice President of KASTOB and Member of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) Assembly, Hünkar Ekşi, General Director of İlim ve Fazilet Foundation Schools, as well as managers and teachers of the İlim ve Fazilet Foundation, mentor teachers of the project, KASTOB President Nevzat Duyar, KASTOB Vice President Yaşar Saka, and KASTOB Secretary General and Project Coordinator Yüksel Arslan.
Aiming for professional literary development
The main agenda items of the meeting included ensuring the long-term sustainability of the project, integrating young writers into a professional literary development process, and establishing collaboration mechanisms with publishing houses.
Tarhan emphasized the critical role of parental support in the writing process
During the project's opening program, President of Üsküdar University, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan and Project Consultant, highlighted the critical role of parental support in the writing process. He also underscored the importance of academic and psychological support mechanisms that would strengthen young writers’ abilities.
A personalized guidance process will be established
During the meeting, discussions were held to discuss including academics and experienced literary figures in the project to help young writers develop their artistic perspectives and strengthen their critical thinking skills.
Additionally, mentor teachers were tasked with establishing a personalized guidance process to help discover each student's individual talents. In this context, collaboration with publishing houses was also discussed to facilitate the publication of young writers' works.
A special working group is planned to be formed to evaluate the produced works from literary, scientific, and technical perspectives before presenting them to publishing houses. Moreover, long-term partnerships with publishing houses will be established to publish and promote the selected works.
