Master’s Program in Audiology with Thesis About the Master's Program

The Master’s Program in Audiology with Thesis, established within the Uskudar University Graduate School of Health Sciences, is a research-oriented, practice-based graduate program that addresses the sciences of hearing and balance from a holistic perspective.

Hearing loss continues to be one of the most common sensory health problems today. According to World Health Organization data, approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide live with some degree of hearing loss, and this number is expected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050. In Turkey as well, with an aging population, the burden of presbycusis, tinnitus and balance disorders is projected to increase markedly in the coming years. The link between hearing loss and cognitive decline and dementia shows that audiological intervention has become not merely an individual concern but a societal public health priority.

In this program, master's students receive in-depth training in subjects such as advanced electrophysiological methods, vestibular assessment, hearing aid and cochlear implant technologies, pediatric and geriatric audiology, tinnitus management, artificial intelligence applications in audiology and scientific research methods. Since theoretical courses are conducted predominantly online, the program also opens its doors to working audiologists; practical courses, meanwhile, are held face-to-face on campus one day a week.

With Turkish as its language of instruction, the program is completed in 4 semesters (maximum 6 semesters) and, upon completion of a total of 34 national credits and 121 ECTS, awards students the title of Master of Science in Audiology (Specialist Audiologist).
