This working group aims to explore the creative, technical, and narrative dimensions of animation as an art form while conducting research on the aesthetic, cultural, and storytelling potentials of various animation techniques, including 2D, 3D, stop-motion, cutout, and experimental animation. In this context, the role of animation within contemporary visual culture, its social representations, and creative production practices are examined through an interdisciplinary perspective. At the same time, the group investigates the innovative opportunities offered by artificial intelligence technologies in animation production processes. The ethical, aesthetic, and cultural implications of AI-assisted animation production, the transformation of creative labor, algorithmic visuality, data-driven production processes, and technological limitations constitute key areas within the group’s scope of research. Accordingly, the group fosters a multilayered research environment that examines both the theoretical and practical dimensions of the interaction between animation and artificial intelligence.
